The year of foundation of a higher educational institution in Voronezh is the 1930th. However, the history of the institution actually began a little earlier. In 1918, the Voronezh Agricultural Institute opened a forestry department to train specialists of the appropriate profile. After 5 years it was transformed into a faculty, and in 1930 on its basis an independent forestry institute was organized.

1. Automotive. Engineers-mechanics for work in the field of motor transport the university began to prepare in 1961. The forest mechanics faculty was responsible for training the students. In 2011, it was transformed into an automobile structural unit.
2. Forest. This faculty has its history since 1918. At that time, training began for forestry personnel. Today the faculty is considered one of the oldest structural units in the university. Students are studying ways of cutting and restoring forests.
3. Timber industry. This faculty started working in 2011. He appeared in the educational organization as a result of the unification of the forest engineering faculty, established in 1954, and the faculty of woodworking, formed in 1960. Today it is a modern structural unit that prepares specialists for the woodworking and forestry industries.
4. Mechanical. The history of this structural unit took its start in the late 40s of the last century in connection with the beginning of training specialists for work in the field of mechanization of agriculture. After some time after the foundation, it was called a forest-mechanic one. A few years ago the faculty was divided into 2 structural units. As a result, there were automobile and mechanical faculties.

Faculty of Economics

Voronezh State Forestry Academy, which received the status of a university, still has an economic faculty. Its history began in 1966, when a new profile of training was opened in the university - "The Economics of Forestry and the Timber Industry". At first, the faculty of forestry was engaged in the training of personnel. Later, a specialized structural unit was opened.

The Faculty of Economics gives students the opportunity to gain practical skills, because the university cooperates with a huge number of organizations and enterprises interested in training qualified specialists. Trainees are provided with places for passing production and pre-graduation practices. After graduation, students are offered places for further work.
