Vlasyoney in cats is a dangerous parasitic disease

Despite the fact that most conscious owners of pets make every effort to ensure the sound health of their wards, sometimes they have different diseases. Very dangerous, for example, withers in cats. These small wingless insects have a flattened body. Their size varies within 1-2 mm. The quadrangular flat head of the insect is much wider than the breast. Vlasoids in cats cause them great trouble. The insect has a large oral cavity of gnawing type. The basis of the food is withered - scales of the epidermis and the animal's fur.

Vlasoids in cats: symptoms, photo

Vlasyoney in an animal can appear at any time of the year. It is possible to infect them everywhere, and it is especially simple - at dialogue of an animal with the cat which has ill earlier, or at contact to subjects of care of it. That's why you need to carefully choose "friends" for your pet. Also, cases of infection of kittens from a sick mother are not uncommon. In this case, parasites significantly weaken the immunity of small animals. Vlasoids in cats breed very quickly. If at the initial stage of the parasite is almost invisible, then within a couple of weeks you can find signs of the disease. Females of these insects paste 20-60 eggs to the animal's woolens. After 7-12 days of them hatch larvae, which after 14-20 days (after three molts) become adults insects.

Most often these parasites affect cats living in unfavorable conditions, as well as sick and weakened animals. A great incentive for the appearance of withers is the poor nutrition of the pet. The main signs of the disease: strong scratching of the skin (sometimes to the blood), the incessant itching, inducing the animal to itch constantly. With severe lesions, cat hair loss, dermatitis, phlegmon are often observed. Vlasoids in cats are localized most often at the base of the animal's tail, as well as on the inner surface of the legs and thighs. To establish the diagnosis it is necessary to carefully inspect the animal's fur, pushing it to the skin. Parasites and their eggs are colored yellowish.

Treatment and prevention

Vlasoids in cats, whose photos on the skin and wool are shown on the right, are destroyed by those drugs that are designed to get rid of fleas. Since they most often kill only larvae, and not eggs and adult insects, antiparasitic treatment should be carried out 3-4 times during the warm season (with an interval of 10-12 days) and in the cold period (after 14-18 days). One of the most popular preparations for the destruction of parasites is a drop of "Fyprist." They are designed to be applied to the withers of an animal. This tool not only treats, but also protects cats from infection by swearing. No less effective are drops of "IN-AP complex", which act on the same principle as the drug "Fiprist".

For the prevention of this disease, it is sufficient to observe a balanced nutrition of the pet and the necessary veterinary and sanitary conditions for its maintenance, to regularly perform a thorough examination of the wool.
