VAZ 11113: maneuverable and economical car

The Japanese compact car Daihatsu Cuore is considered the prototype of the VAZ 11113. It was the 1980 car of the 1980s that was taken as a basis, so inexperienced drivers often confuse the domestic "Oka" with an imported vehicle.

The exterior design on AvtoVAZ did not change, but the chassis and power unit were developed anew. The whole process took several years, so that the inhabitants of the USSR saw a brand new car not in the mid-eighties of the twentieth century, but closer to their end. Togliatti is considered to be the cradle of a subcompact, while Serpukhov and Naberezhnye Chelny are adopted families of VAZ 11113.

This small, surprisingly maneuverable car was created for rapidly growing cities, so I liked not only those who worked in the administrative building of the concern, but also ordinary citizens. For some of them, he, thanks to a low price, became the first family vehicle. The gift version was called this machine veterans of the war, participants in the fighting and those who eliminated the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

In 1995, by decision of the shareholders' meeting, VAZ 11113 ceased to exist, as it turned out to be an unprofitable car. However, they did not forget about him: at the present time on Russian roads one can find this particular car brand, but in an improved version.

Two car owners decided to test their cars. So close were two cars, one of which did not even hear what the tuning of VAZ 11113. "Oka" stood quietly on the sidelines and seemed like a slaughtered creature next to a polished sister.

The first break-in was a standard vehicle. Modest interior, cheap development. Feeling is not pleasant, when you feel savings on everything, including space. Probably the frog in a box came to Ivan Tsarevich on the "Oka".

But the second car was beyond competition: no strained acceleration, tightness and rattling salon. Tuning works wonders if you try to squeeze everything out of it.

A small size for folk craftsmen is not a hindrance. It's easy to fix if you replace the chairs. Rattling is corrected by warming the interior, trunk and doors.

Car service employees are united in one: for all the shortcomings of the VAZ 11113, it has a special merit. Maneuverability of the small car is such that it will give odds even to Mercedes. The turning radius of the "baby" allows it to easily maneuver on the narrow roads of modern cities.

About the economy of the conversation is special: gasoline consumes little, motor oil too. If you give the domestic car the look of a Korean SUV, for example, Kia Sportage, then envious glances will be thrown not only by Russian pedestrians, but also by pampered Western Europeans.

Engine VAZ 11113 was completed twice. The first motor, Rover, had four cylinders. This carburettor variant with a camshaft was supported by two counterbalancing elements driven by a gear train.

The cylinder block was cast from high-strength cast iron, so it is still in a decent condition with caring owners. For connecting rods was high-quality steel, and forged, for the hub was developed a special composition, the basis of which was bronze.
