Valor is what? Do valor in modern society?

So, what is valor? Is it an inborn quality or, perhaps, an acquired instinct? Or maybe it's a fiction, invented, in order to raise the morale of soldiers? Who knows the right answer?

Well, let's conduct our own investigation and finally find out the whole truth about this loud word. After all, this is the only way to finally understand what the meaning is put into it and how important this quality is in modern society.

Valor is ...?

To begin, as always, follows from the very beginning, more precisely, from the formulation. According to the dictionary, valor is the inner quality of a person, pushing him to perform noble deeds. At the same time he is guided not by the desire to receive remuneration for his affairs, but by his own code of honor.

Often, valor is compared with such concepts as courage, courage, fearlessness, nobility and so on. You can meet this word both in ordinary conversation and among military vocabulary. There are even special orders and medals, outstanding for the fighters for their valor.

Valor in the Middle Ages

In our minds, the image of a knight is always associated with something good and beautiful. It is not for nothing that in many fairy tales the princess was rescued by a knight on a white horse. A similar stereotype was formed due to the fact that in the past these fearless warriors proved themselves very well.

They even had their own code of honor, and all the knights had to adhere to it. Valor, or the main qualities of the fighter, were spelled out on his first pages. At the same time implicitly fulfill them was required as a simple rookie, and the supreme commander.

Moreover, for a knight, valor is an indestructible shrine. And if, for some reason, he defiled her, he was subjected to a fair trial. In the worst case, his name was struck from the list of knights and subjected to shame.

Valor in the modern world

But the medieval knights have long ago sunk into oblivion, not counting those small orders that now exist for the sake of reminding of old times. Also, now there are no codes that would indicate the scope and criteria of valor. Why is it needed in modern society?

The truth is that valor never belonged to knights. This quality was considered noble in all ages and in all nations. After all, what is valor in reality?

If you think about it, is not she pushing an ordinary man into a blazing house to save a little child from there? Or does not valor make a fighter get under bullets so that his partner survives? And therefore judge for yourself, it does not matter what century a person lives in and what laws prevail in him - valor will always be an important quality, without which good deeds simply disappear from the face of the earth.
