UAC: disable or pardon

In the distant from us in 2006, the world's computer community was excited by the release of Windows Vista. On the new system immediately struck an incredible barrage of negativity, the reasons for which all the same were.

One of them was the UAC option, which almost all the "experts" of those times advised to disable. How justified is this statement? Is it necessary to disable this option? In the framework of this article, we will try to answer all these questions.

What it is?

Considering the expediency of disabling such an ambiguous option, it is necessary to talk about its purpose. Microsoft has long stressed that working on a computer from an account with administrator rights does not lead to anything good.

As a rule, all these warnings were safely ignored by the majority of users who preferred to feel themselves owners of their own computer.

That is why the utility UAC was developed. Disable it advised not least because of some molestation, which made this application famous. If you used "Vista", then for sure remember that almost every program was constantly required to confirm its intention.

As you could understand, all this was done to reduce the risk of infection of the computer with viruses. That's only the users themselves did not appreciate such care, as using a computer turned into not very exciting activity.

In fact, UAC is a completely sane and useful service, since it is really capable of preventing unauthorized launch of a malicious application. This is especially true when you are working in some old browser, the reliability of which is currently in great doubt.

Note that the promise of this development in due time was confirmed by the specialists of the well-known company Norton, having released its version of this service. In contrast to the native application from Microsoft, it was much more flexible in the configuration, and it was not so distinguished as the importunity.

Should I disable this system?

If you carefully read the beginning of the article, then for sure you can doubt the need to deactivate UAC. Disable the control of user accounts (namely, as its name stands for) can only be afforded by really experienced users who are fully aware of their actions.

Unfortunately, self-confident users do not want to follow smart advice, and therefore without hesitation stop such a useful service. The humor of the situation is that in many cases they do not even see the need for using an antivirus, so the results of such self-activity turn out to be very sad.

If you decide to turn off ...

If you do not like UAC so much, you can disable it only after installing a normal anti-virus program. Do not "get carried" on the recommendations of users of free programs of this kind, because they simply can not provide an adequate level of protection for your car.

It is desirable to put not just an antivirus, but a program of the "Internet Security" class, since only its capabilities can guarantee the security of your computer when you turn off User Account Control. Experts say that it is desirable to use domestic antiviruses, since they are better able to cope with the types of threats that are massively occurring in RuNet.

Turn off UAC in Windows Vista

As we have already said, it was in this system that this protective service first appeared. And it is in this system that it is so inconvenient that often there is a desire to turn it off. So how do I do this?

First, click on the "Start" button, and then look for "Control Panel" there. In the appeared working window you should find the item "User accounts". Click on it with the left mouse button, and then a dialog box will appear in which it will be necessary to uncheck the box "Use User Account Control". After that, click on the "OK" button and restart the computer. All! You will not see more annoying warnings.

How to remove the service from the "Seven"

Since Vista users do not currently have much left, users of Windows 7 can often disable UAC account control. In this process, the process is somewhat more complicated.

Press the "Windows + R" key combination, after which the field for launching the programs will open. In it, enter the command "secpol.msc" and press the "Enter" key. The "Local Security Policy" utility will be launched.

In it you should select the item "Local Policies", in which there is a section "Security Settings". Locate the string "User Account Control: The Behavior of the Elevation Request for Administrators in Administrator Approval Mode" in the list, and then double-click on it with the left mouse button.

A drop-down list opens in which you need to select the item "Increase without request", then click on the "OK" button. Close the dialog box, and then send the computer to reboot.

A simple way

If you are not confident in your abilities, you can turn off the boring service by a simpler method. To do this, you must again use the keyboard shortcut "Windows + R", after which the command "MSConfig" is entered in the appeared field.

A dialog box opens, in which we are interested in the "Tools" tab. It should have the item "Account Setup", which should be selected with the left mouse button. Click on the "Run" button. After that, you can close the dialog box and send the computer to reboot.

That's how you can disable UAC control. But we would once again want to warn you that the consequences of such a shutdown should be imagined as clearly as possible. The included service guarantees at least some kind of security, protecting your system from running malicious applications and protecting known holes in its security.

If the service is disabled, you will have to rely solely on the antivirus and the directness of your own hands. Especially it is not recommended to disable it to novice users, who are weakly aware of the workings of self-protection mechanisms for operating systems.

They instantly collect on their computer a whole collection of viruses.
