Types of dressings and their use in various injuries

In case of trauma, fracture, open wound, the correct application of the dressing is very important and has no less significant significance than a well-conducted operation. It is no accident that in medicine there is a whole science about the correct application of bandages, which is called "desmurgy". Bandages are classified according to their purpose, type of material used for dressing, and ways of fixation. Depending on the types of injuries, when applying bandages, various materials are used: gauze, cotton wool, rubberized cloth, stern cotton cloth, gypsum and special tires.

To fix the dressing material on the wound, a strengthening bandage of gauze, a tubular, elastic, rubberized, reticulated bandage or plaster is applied. The gauze dressing can also be oppressive, when it is necessary to create a definite and constant pressure on the part of the body in case of bleeding and hemorrhage.

There are compress gauze bandages that are used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. They warm and delay the evaporation of the medicine, passing the term of its therapeutic effect.

Immobilizing dressings using tires and gypsum are used to keep the affected part of the body in a fixed preset position. Such types of dressings are necessary for fractures, dislocations, during transportation of the patient.

Different types of dressings have special overlapping algorithms. However, there are general requirements that must be observed when providing assistance to the victim. The dressing should not cause excessive pain, it should not be too tight to not disturb the blood circulation (except for special tightening), and should not be too weak to not slip off the wound. Bandage of the wound begins from the narrowest point and ends where it started. The bandage should be held in the right hand, and the left should be held and smoothed. Each new turn of the material overlaps the previous one, approximately, to its half. The ends of the bandage are not tied, but are twisted. After dressing, the affected limb is fixed in an elevated position.

In injuries and fractures during hiking and traveling, as well as in domestic life, often use kosynochnye bandages for fixing or bandaging the wound. These types of dressings are made from a piece of cotton cloth, which is folded with a scarf or a narrow strip. They are convenient for damage or fracture of the shoulder, collarbone, elbow joint for their immobilization.

Gypsum dressings are very widely used for fractures of bones, as well as for fixed fixation of parts of the body for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, after operations. Do them with plaster bandages, which are pre-soaked in warm water. When applying this dressing, you should make sure that it is not tight, does not cause pain, does not cause a sensation of numbness or tingling. To control the limb fingers are left open, if they become numb, change color, swell - this is the signal to the bandage to be removed and bandaged again.

There are also such types of dressings as fixative. These are tight, tight-fitting materials that allow you to correctly distribute the load, maintain, relieve tension, and relieve pain. The modern medical industry produces ready-made fixatives made with the use of nanotechnologies for various joints: wrists, knees, elbows, shin, lumbar region, which are indispensable for minor injuries, distractions, chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, during heavy physical labor. For example, an ankle bandage is one of the most mobile joints, helps to avoid injuries and strains with active pastime and heavy physical exertion.
