Turns at T-junctions in accordance with the regulations

Turnings at T-shaped intersections cause difficulties for many citizens. Not everyone understands whether it is possible to carry out maneuvers in such areas, and if this is possible, how correctly to implement it. In fact, everything is not so difficult. It is enough to know some rules of the road, and also to be well-versed in the terrain. What features should take into account drivers who are thinking about turning at T-junctions? Is it possible to make such maneuvers in general? What punishments can violators? All the singularities associated with T-junctions will be studied further. The rules will not be difficult to study. A more serious task is the practice of driving and behavior in the studied areas.

Is there a right

The first thing that needs to be understood is whether the U-turn at the T-junction is allowed. In this regard, drivers disagree. Someone says that it is possible to carry out maneuvers on these sections of the road, some assure otherwise.

So who is right? In fact, in the rules of the road there are no bans on the implementation of a turn at the T-junction. The only thing to consider is that this maneuver is carried out according to certain rules. It is also recommended to orientate well on the terrain. This will help ease the turn itself. Nevertheless, there are exceptions to the rules. What is it about?

Bridges

A turn at the T-shaped unregulated intersection, as it turned out, is possible. But not always. In certain circumstances, one should refrain from this maneuver.

The point is that the studied action can not be carried out on the bridge. This is forbidden a priori. What if a T-junction crossed the bridge? Turning on this section of the road is not allowed. The driver will act only at his own risk. That is, theoretically, he can try to maneuver, but given that the inspectors of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate have the full right to issue a fine in various sizes.

Exception with bridges

And here there is one small nuance. He urges drivers to be more attentive to the road and signs located on the roadside. The thing is that the turns at the T-shaped intersections, formed with the participation of the bridge, are sometimes permissible.

When exactly? By default, as it turned out, this maneuver is prohibited. But if there is an appropriate sign on the roadside - "Turn on the bridge is allowed", then you can take this opportunity. Again, with the observance of certain rules, otherwise the citizen will have to suffer punishment in the form of a fine, or even lose for a certain period of driving license.

Dividing strip

Special attention is required for roads on which there is a dividing strip. The thing is that turns at T-shaped intersections with similar features are also possible. In general, it does not matter what the studied area will be - with stripes, without them, with traffic lights or unregulated ones - you can still turn on them all the same. Only the technique of maneuvering will be different.

A small nuance that helps to avoid problems on the road is the choice of the direction of the turn if there is a dividing line on the site. It is necessary to carry out the maneuver so that the vehicle does not move in the opposite direction. In other words, choose the so-called long-range trajectory. When driving on the opposite lane, even during the maneuver, the driver may be subject to administrative punishment. This fact must be taken into account without fail.

Who is allowed

The next question that interests many drivers is who is allowed to carry out the action being studied. Turns at T-junctions can do all the cars, but mostly these are cars. But buses and other large vehicles are not able to carry out such an action.

The exception is a turn on a wide T-shaped intersection. There the radius of movement of the vehicle will not allow you to go beyond the limits of the road. So, you can realize the idea in life. Nevertheless, such road sections are rare. Often, T-shaped areas are narrow. This does not allow maneuvering large-sized vehicles.

Why does this happen? All due to the fact that crossing the intersection of the intersection is prohibited. This is a direct violation of the established rules of the road. Thus, if you need to turn around a large vehicle, you will either need to find a fairly large intersection, or act at your own peril and risk, breaking the rules. The latter option is not recommended to implement.

Reverse

What else should you pay attention to before making a turn at the T-junction? There is a small feature, which should be remembered by drivers of SUVs for example, and indeed any vehicles with a large turning radius. In addition to the limitations already mentioned, you do not need to leave the intersection, you need to remember the next rule.

Which one? When reversals are made at the crossroads, the reverse is prohibited. This rule applies to everyone without exception. This violation is punished not too seriously. The driver, who for one reason or another reversed the course of the maneuver, faces a financial penalty of about 500 rubles. This is not too much, but even such punishment can be avoided. The rules of the turn at the T-junction require serious attention. Therefore, drivers with vehicles with a large turning radius should refrain from such manipulations. Or implement them, as has already been explained, on broad sections.

Regulated areas

A turn at the T-junction with traffic lights or in any other case, when it comes to the regulated area, occurs without any problems. It should be remembered that in this situation only the flow of oncoming vehicles will have to be passed. In this case, traffic from the right and left sides will be prohibited through traffic lights.

In this situation, it is necessary to observe only two basic rules, which have already been said: the trajectory should be chosen so that the car does not move on the opposite lane, and also under an interdiction there is a reverse. And, of course, maneuver can be carried out only within the intersection.

No more significant rules and features of the trajectory of the turn at the T-junction, which is regulated by the traffic light, does not. The only thing that drivers are advised to pay attention to is signs mounted near the roads. They can prohibit the implementation of the studied maneuver. Accordingly, in this situation, even with a regulated movement, it is necessary to refrain from implementing a reversal.

Rotate disabled

The next nuance extends mainly to roads with traffic lights. The thing is that a turn at the T-junction requires special attention from the driver. The basic principles of maneuvering have already been said. In doing so, great attention should be paid to prohibitory signs.

Often, drivers can notice "Turn left prohibited." This does not mean that there is a reversal under the ban. In the rules of the road, these actions differ. The advice that is recommended is to look at the clarifying signs under the "Turn left prohibited." Often they are able to impose a ban on the maneuver being studied. These rules have been in effect for a long time, and in 2016 they were not canceled.

Accordingly, signs prohibiting turns do not cancel the possibility of reversal. The main thing is to follow the principles already mentioned and not to go beyond the intersection.

Adjacent territory

What else should be considered before implementing the action being studied? You can pay attention to the territory adjacent to the crossroads. It is capable of helping to turn in the right direction without violating the rules of the road.

Turnings at T-junctions are thus usually carried out using the territory mainly on the right side. It is recommended to call on her backwards. Then you do not have to back up directly on the main road.

Signs or markup

The rules of the turn at the T-junction sometimes require special knowledge from the driver. Especially when it comes to bridges. Here, as it turned out, special attention should be given to the signs. Often it turns out that the road markings contradict the signs set on the roadside.

How to be in this situation? As practice shows, it is necessary to follow precisely the prohibiting and resolving signs. They dominate the road markings, despite the differences. A driver making a maneuver on a bridge when the marks on the road are not allowed to do this, and the signs indicate the "Turn Place", have no right to punish. Only if he violated the method of implementing the very maneuver.

Mindfulness on the road

On all this advice and recommendations do not end. Drivers often give each other advice on how to behave, if there is a T-junction ahead. Turning is carried out by a certain technique, the violation of which entails one or another responsibility. Often in the form of a fine.

Among the most common recommendations, you can find the following items:

  1. On the regulated (and in the absence of regulation), the section should pay attention to the "Main Road" and the message "Give way", as well as "Stop". This will help not to violate the rules and fully correctly implement the maneuver.
  2. If there is none of the previously listed signs, you will have to use the rule called "Interference on the right".
  3. Also, when making a turn, the driver must use the turn signals. They need to be properly switched, indicating their direction. This moment requires special attention.

Perhaps, these are all the features that a driver should remember in order not to break traffic rules. A turn at the T-junction, especially wide, usually does not cause problems. It is enough to behave properly and include pointers-turn signals.

About turn signals

The last moment is also very important. The thing is that most drivers do not know how to correctly indicate the direction of their movement. Before the citizen is a T-shaped intersection. The reversal maneuver necessarily includes an indication of the remaining drivers of the future direction.

How does the majority of citizens behave? For example, when using the adjoining territory on the right, many people show this turn direction, then switch it to the left signal. That is, to turn to the left side, first point to the opposite side.

This is wrong behavior. It only confuses the rest of the drivers. In fact, according to the established rules, it is not necessary to show the direction that implies the arrival to the adjacent territory. This means that the citizen must immediately turn on the left turn signal. So he will show that he is turning left. A similar rule applies to the right side. In fact, there is nothing difficult in this.

Direct maneuver

The trajectory of the turn at the T-junction should already be approximately comprehensible. How to act properly if the citizen decided to make this maneuver in practice? Just a few steps - and it's done! Of course, taking into account all the prohibitory signs, action is taken.

Briefly the whole process can be described as follows:

  1. First, you need to approach the intersection, while reducing the speed as you approach this section of the road. Do this until the traffic reaches a speed that is safe for maneuvering.
  2. Choose a convenient, optimal place on which the action will take place. It is important to remember the rules that prohibit traffic on counter strips.
  3. When you connect the road to the right, you need to stop by this section, then turn in a circular motion . This is done in one step.
  4. Adjoining to the left requires special attention. In this case, it is necessary to keep as close as possible to the right side, then turn around with the approach to the part of the adjacent section.

This is the whole theory that the driver should know and consider. In fact, in practice everything is much simpler than it seems. It is enough to take into account the rules on the site.

Penalties for violation

And what can wait for the driver, who to some extent violated the rules of the road during the maneuver? It should be remembered that in the absence of prohibitory signs, traffic police inspectors do not have the right to fine a citizen for a direct turn. But for the violation of technology - quite.

It has already been said that, for example, the reverse is punishable by a fine in the amount of 500 rubles. This is not the only measure that is imposed on violators. What else can drivers fear?

For example, for crossing a continuous line of differentiation of flows without going to the oncoming lane you can run into a fine. The monetary payment in this case is 1,500 rubles a maximum.

Departure to the oncoming lane is already a serious violation, even if it was committed during a turn at the T-junction. The driver can be fined up to 5,000 rubles. This is at best. In the worst case, the deprivation of rights for a period of 4 to 6 months is considered. If the citizen repeatedly makes a trip to the "meeting", his driving license will be taken away for 12 months.

All this must be taken into account in order to carry out the turns in accordance with the established norms. The least problem is the maneuver performed on a wide area. Narrow practice is required. It is not recommended to risk the drivers of large vehicles with a large turning radius.

Summarizing

What conclusions can we draw from all of the above? The thing is that in fact, reversals on the roads are very simple. It is enough to take into account a few simple rules and act according to the proposed method.

Drivers should first of all pay attention to signs-signs, and only then - on road marking. Also, care should be taken with traffic lights in regulated areas. Vigilance should be manifested first of all on unfamiliar roads. Therefore, many simply do not dare to do so serious maneuvering at new crossroads. The main thing is not to forget about all the other rules of the traffic, especially about the main road. A little practice - and the T-shaped intersection (reversal on it) will not be terrible!
