Treatment of allergic rhinitis. The most effective methods

Allergic rhinitis is an inflammation of the nasal mucosa. It occurs when inhaling allergens contained in the air. It can be mold spores, animal hair, pollen of flowers, dust, etc. The reaction to an allergen can be different: from normal sneezing to difficulty breathing and disruption of the heart, which can lead to anaphylactic shock and even death. Therefore, the treatment of allergic rhinitis should be regularly conducted to people suffering from this disease.

Allergic rhinitis is divided into 3 types :

  • Seasonal rhinitis - it appears during flowering of trees and other plants. There are three periods when the peak incidence is observed: the end of spring (April - May), when alder, oak, birch, ash tree and blossom blossom. E. Early summer (June and July) - the time of allergy to cereals, and later summer (August and early September), when ragweed, quinoa, wormwood blossom ;
  • Year-round rhinitis occurs when allergic to dust accumulating at home. In this situation, allergens are mites that live in house dust;
  • Professional rhinitis - an allergic reaction that occurs in people whose work is associated with contact with other types of dust or various chemicals.

Symptoms that occur when allergic rhinitis occurs :

  • Discharge from the nose;
  • nasal congestion;
  • Sneezing;
  • sore throat;
  • Redness and tear of the eyes;
  • Itching in the nose;
  • cough;
  • Loss of ability to distinguish smells;
  • Swelling of the nasopharynx.

All these symptoms lead to the appearance of headaches, irritability, sleep disturbance, overwork. In almost half the cases, allergic rhinitis becomes a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract - bronchial asthma.

Treatment of allergic rhinitis .

The first thing you need to do to get rid of the disease is to stop contacting the allergen. If this is not possible, we must resort to local medicines. These include vasoconstrictors (drops in the nose - "Naftizin", "Galazolin", "Nazivin"), which contribute to the rapid removal of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity. But it should be remembered that the systematic treatment of allergic rhinitis by these means can lead to the depletion of the nasal mucosa, as a result of which the secretions will only increase.

Also for the treatment of allergies, medications of the group of cromones (Lomuzol, Kromogeksal, Kromosol) are used, which remove the swelling of the nose and soothe the itching. These drugs practice the treatment of allergic rhinitis in children, since they have virtually no side effects.

If the above-mentioned treatment is ineffective, hormonal drugs from the group of corticosteroids ("Nazarel", "Baconase", "Aldecin") are prescribed. The method of taking and dosage should be prescribed by the doctor, since if they are used improperly, the patient's condition can only worsen.

During the exacerbation of allergic rhinitis, it is recommended to combine preparations of local and general action. The latter include antihistamines (Suprastin, Zodiac, Claritin), blocking the production of substances that trigger the allergic reaction.
