Three simple ways how to make luminous shoelaces at home

Every person can be fashionable while spending the smallest amount of money. In this article I want to talk about how to make luminous shoelaces at home: what you need for this and how everything can be done on your own.

Why is this necessary?

First of all I want to say that luminous shoelaces are a trend for several seasons, and having such a fashionable accessory, you can always be in the center of attention without problems. However, in addition, such strings have a number of positive sides. Manufactured in any way, they are inherently waterproof, as well as durable and very strong. Well, as a bonus: they always attract the attention of others, and especially those of the opposite sex.

What should I cook?

So, to get the desired effect of luminescence, you need to prepare a little and stock up:

  1. The LEDs of the desired colors are 4 pieces.
  2. A silicone tube with a cord diameter and a length of approximately 2 meters.
  3. Liquid silicone for filling.
  4. Flat batteries - 4 pieces.
  5. Soldering iron for work.

Option 1. We make a string with a tube and silicone

So, understanding how to make luminous shoelaces in the home, you must first prepare the cords themselves. It's quite simple to do this. Pre-purchased silicone tube should be divided exactly in half so that it turns out two pieces of one meter. When this is done, the tubes must be filled completely neatly with liquid silicone. Now the LEDs come into operation, they need to be shoved around the edges into the silicone, leaving the wires on the outside and fixing the structure with a soldering iron (the diodes will give a glow effect, spreading the light along the entire length of the silicone strap). At this stage, you also need to attach the batteries to the structure, so that the glow is something fed. You can do this in two different ways.

  • Method 1. The battery can be soldered between the wires. If the soldering iron is not available, it can simply be filled with glue so that the two wires touch it. For the convenience of its placement and more fine work, it is better to use tweezers.
  • Method 2. More economical in nature, since here it will only be necessary to make a small switch that will be able to stop the power of the LED from the battery at the right time, the longer it will keep its operability.

Option 2: Paint

There is an easier way to make luminous shoelaces at home. In addition, low-cost for materials, money and time. To do this, you need to buy simple shoelaces and luminous paint, which is sold in regular stores. It can be called differently: luminescent, fluorescent, phosphorescent, photoluminescent. There is a special nuance: such shoelaces are short-lived, and the paint will wash off after two or three washes, and you will need to repeat the painting procedure again. But in support of this method to create luminous shoelaces at home, I want to say that such products are no different from the usual ones, and they can be tied up as desired.

Option 3. Neon

It should be said that this is a very unusual way. Understanding how to make luminous shoelaces at home, you need to stock up:

  1. Neon wire (2 meters).
  2. Batteries (approximately 2-4 pieces).
  3. Inverter (preferably with flicker control).

First you need to work with the pre-purchased cord. To do this, it must be cut in half so that two identical lengths of 1 meter length are obtained. Next, each piece must be attached to the inverter. That's all the wisdom, at its core, luminous shoelaces from ready-made tools are ready! If the inverter has a flicker effect, the product will look even steeper, from time to time blinking.
