The size of the helmet, as well as the quality of its parts - the most important characteristics in the selection of protection
Each motorcyclist must have a helmet, because it protects the head and neck from various blows and injuries. Choosing a helmet is a matter of responsibility, because without this protection you can get very serious injuries, which can lead to disability and even to death. Therefore, without this accessory, it is better not to sit behind the wheel of a motorcycle.
Types of motorcycle helmets
The "Integral" helmet is a device that has a very high degree of protection. The only drawbacks of this type of helmet can be considered weak ventilation and rather heavy weight. "Integral" is a cross helmet that is suitable for sport riding.
Helmet type "Modular" has a high degree of protection. The structural feature of this helmet is the upwardly rising side arch. The drawbacks include its heavy weight and high cost.
Note that helmets that cover only two third heads have a very low level of safety and do not guarantee protection of the face and chin, but they have good "audibility", light weight and relatively low cost. The size of this type of helmet is very compact.
The motorcycle helmet consists of the following parts:
- Outer shell;
- Energy absorbing layer;
- A layer of soft tissue;
- Chin strap.
The outer shell is made of plastic or fiberglass. A helmet with an outer sheath of fiberglass is more expensive than a similar plastic one, but its service life is much longer. The inside of the helmet consists of styrofoam or expanded polystyrene. It is she who absorbs most of the energy upon impact. Consequently, the more impact energy absorbs the inside of the helmet, the less damage the head gets. The inside of the helmet is usually lined with a synthetic cloth. It can absorb a small amount of moisture, and this is necessary for a more comfortable ride.
