The pain in the scapula is left: what are the deviations?

Pain in the left shoulder can be the main symptom of a serious illness to which the human body is exposed. In order for you to understand what exactly causes this deviation, which doctor to contact, we list the most common types of diseases, because of which a person can feel discomfort in the presented area.

Osteochondrosis

Cervical osteochondrosis is the first in the list of those reasons that can cause quite a lot of pain in the left shoulder. Most often, such a disease occurs in people who, due to their work, are forced to stay in an uncomfortable position for a long time with their head tilted. It is because of this that the nerve endings that come out of the spine are squeezed, thereby causing pain in the scapula of the left, as well as in the neck, arm and shoulder. Often with this diagnosis, a person feels discomfort in the nape of the neck, which increases with a strain on the neck and rather sharp turns of the head.

Intercostal neuralgia

This disease can cause pain in the region of the left scapula, both periodic and permanent. It usually occurs in the intercostal spaces. People with this diagnosis describe their pains as shooting, girdling, intensifying with deep inspiration, as well as during a sharp movement of the trunk, physical activity and probing of the diseased site.

Myocardial infarction

Usually, such an attack is accompanied by very severe pain behind the chest, which subsequently spreads to the back, lower jaw, arm, neck and left shoulder blade. Such conditions often cause fear of death, pallor of the skin and loss of consciousness. It lasts no more than 13-25 minutes. It is almost never possible to remove such sensations with the help of cardiac preparations. To facilitate the patient's condition and prevent a fatal outcome, it is recommended to immediately call for medical attention.

Stomach ulcer

Pain in the left scapula often occurs with peptic ulcer. However, before this, unpleasant sensations appear in the epigastric region and spread to the left breast. With this diagnosis, a person can be bothered by growing pain, especially after eating heavy food. In addition to the described sensations, stomach ulcer often causes nausea followed by vomiting, belching, severe heartburn, increased salivation and regurgitation.

It is also worth noting that the pain in the left shoulder almost always appears with lung diseases, namely, bronchitis, pleurisy and pneumonia. In this case, unpleasant sensations can be sharp, pulling, blunt and intensified during deep inspiration or coughing.

Another common reason that a person feels pain in the left shoulder blade is a psychological problem. In such situations, unpleasant sensations are manifested in different places, passing into the arm, the area under the collarbone, the abdomen and neck. In this case, the pain syndrome may increase or, conversely, become weak, accompanied by a feeling of tingling, heaviness, squeezing, heat, etc.
