"The Old Genius": a short summary for the readers diary

Some works of Nikolai Leskov are held in school. To get a good mark, you need to know the plot, the main characters. Then the schoolchild will correctly fill the readers' diary and on the basis of this can answer well when the time comes to study the story "The Old Genius". The summary will help in this.

Structure of the written response

Usually the readers' diary consists of four main graphs. The first is the name of the work. In it, the schoolboy will write: "The old genius." The summary for the reader diary should be small. It is written in the fourth column.

In the second, the author is indicated. Here - Nikolai Semenovich Leskov. If the teacher asks you to write the years of his life, indicate the dates 1832-1895. If you need to put the year of writing the story, write that it is 1864 year.

The third column is devoted to the heroes of the work. You will learn them by reading the story "The Old Genius". The summary is the most voluminous graph, so we proceed to retell the little story.

"A blatant affair"

The work consists of five chapters. At the beginning of the story the author acquaints the reader with the old woman, who arrived in St. Petersburg on the "blatant case" - these are her words. What caused the elderly woman to leave her native penates and set out on a journey? The trouble. The old woman's house was laid, there was nothing to pay her. She lived with a young granddaughter and a sick daughter. If they took away the house, the family simply perished, because then they had nowhere to live.

Why did the old woman mortgage her house, this is written in the story "The Old Genius". The summary also tells about this fact. It turned out that way, because the old woman was very kind. She took pity on the man who asked her for a loan. He spent his money, and now he had nothing to get from the area where the old woman lived, to Peter, where he lived. This fashionable dandy told her that he needed to somehow get to his native city, and then he would give money.

Debtor

The old woman believed, besides, she once knew the mother of a man. She had no such money, so she took money from the bank on bail at home.

But the man, having reached St. Petersburg, as in the water has sunk. He is not that he did not pay the debt, but did not answer the letters that the woman began writing to him. At first she only slightly hinted that the time is right and you need to pay. Then, frustrated by the silence of the dandy, she began to insist on demanding what was hers, but he did not answer.

That is why the old woman had to gather in the road and go. After all, she was warned that soon they would sell the house, on the security of which she took money. The summary of the story "The Old Genius" goes to the next moment.

In the city

Arriving in St. Petersburg, an elderly woman went to court. She got a good lawyer who won the case. A verdict was issued, stating that the debtor needed to pay the money. But on this good news came to an end.

Wherever a woman applied, she was told that they do not know where the debtor lives. She said that she knew where his wife's house was. She was told that her husband can reside there, but that dandy does not appear in this house.

The old woman hinted to the officials that after returning the money she would thank them, giving one or three thousand rubles, but they still did not agree to help. They said that this dandy has authoritative patrons, so no one will contact him.

The sorrowful woman told her story to the narrator, on whose behalf the work "The Old Genius" is written. Very brief content will tell about this episode.

A woman is looking for a way out

The old woman, apparently, was smart and not used to give up. She was given strength by the fact that she was dependent on her sick daughter and granddaughter. It was necessary to return money, so that relatives were not on the street.

Decisiveness gave her news from the house that after Christmas her house should be sold, so it was impossible to tarry. In addition, an elderly woman accidentally met that dandy and found out that he and the well-off lady for the next day forever go abroad. In this case, he would never return a debt.

Subsequent events are transmitted from the mouth of the narrator. So we learn that the old lady went out to one person who introduced himself as Ivan Ivanovich. He promised to help her for 500 rubles - 200 - this is his reward, and 300 should be given to the immediate executor of the plan that Ivan Ivanovich came up with.

For some time the old woman was thinking, but then she decided that she had no other choice. She came to the narrator to ask for the missing 150 rubles. He was a heartfelt man. When the woman told what the money would go, he gave it to her.

Plan Ivan Ivanovich - the old genius

Taking from the narrator a debt of 150 rubles, the woman went to the agreed place, where she was waiting for Ivan Ivanovich. She told him that she agreed. He replied that then it was a little thing. He can not be a performer, just as his face is known to many. For this purpose it is necessary to find a "Serbian battler". Then they called those who fought during the Turkish-Serbian war.

Not immediately they managed to find such a man - had to travel, but the search was crowned with success. Now three noble conspirators sat in the tavern and discussed the details. The former soldier said that he agreed to 300 rubles, this ended the negotiations.

The train left the debtor the next day. After spending the night, the trio went to the station. Here the old woman, afraid to be recognized, quietly pointed to the men for the debtor. He drank tea and waited for the departure of the train.

Ivan Ivanovich and the woman hid, began to observe the further action from a safe distance. The Serbian soldier passed the dandy three times, and then displeased (to provoke a scandal) asked why he looked at him so? After a squabble, the soldier hit a debtor, a policeman came to the noise.

He asked the men to show the documents. Seeing a familiar surname, the guard of order handed the paper to the dandy, where the amount of the debt was indicated. To be released from the country, the man gave the debt with interest and everything was decided well. The old woman gave 150 rubles to the narrator.

On the positive, the little story "The Old Genius" ends. Briffly's summary is different from this one. In the presented retelling you will find more important details of the story that will help answer additional questions from the teacher and get an excellent assessment.
