The Karagiy Depression. Where is the hollow of Karagiye

According to numerous stories, in ancient times at this place stretched the lake, whose name was Batyr (in the translation "Brave Warrior"). Subsequently, a depression formed here, which was associated with leaching of saline rocks, with karst and subsidence processes that took place on the spacious shores of the Caspian Sea. About where the Karagiyi Depression is, and what it is, you can find out by reading this article.

Karagie is unique and unique. In the spring, locals gather mushrooms here for champignons. There are amazing wonders of stags, foxes, hares and corsacs. In the sky above the hollow soar, looking for prey, vultures. And behind everything that is happening around watch their sharp-sighted moufflons. However, there are many more secrets that hide this amazing hollow.

Karagiyi Depression: location, description

Approximately 50 kilometers from the city of Alatau on the Mangyshlak plateau (eastern part), one of the deepest depressions in the world, called Karagiye, stretches from the north-west to the southeast. Translated from the Turkic language, the name means "Black mouth".

Around the steppe, only in places near the roadside there are green grass bushes.

This is the fifth largest depression in the world, which is part of the huge plateau of Ustyurt. Cliffs near the depression are composed of Neogene sediments. Its superficial part consists of strong Sarmatian limestones, the central part - from soft clay rocks. The relief of the depression continues to form due to mudflows, winds, deformations of river beds. Below we will provide more detailed information about this interesting place.

Length of more than 40 km and a width of 10 km has a depression Karagie. Its depth is 132 m below sea level.

About the origin

The basis of karst formation is the dissolving and eroding activity of natural underground waters. Due to the underground water seeping into the cracks, which are found in limestone, gypsum and dolomite, there was a dissolution of rocks and expansion of cracks. The consequence of such phenomena was the formation of deep and narrow abysses. Deepening such, gradually expanding, creating large caves and funnels. In the process of expanding the caves, their walls and roofs were destroyed under the weight of the layers lying higher.

Moreover, this process, often repeating itself, was gradually directed deep into the earth. In connection with the occurrence of calcareous saline deposits at the depth, and in connection with the processes described above, huge cavities appeared, gradually filling with crushed rock. Among other things, there were funnels, niches, blind valleys, valleys, grottoes, cavities, courses, hollows and natural wells. Thus, the Karagiyi depression developed.

Now, having adopted modern outlines, the depression is almost formed. But the relief-forming processes continue to this day, as evidenced by ledges and cliffs, dissected by deep gorges (gullies and ravines).

Features of the area

This area has always been the object of research by scientists.

It turned out that the Karagiyi depression (practically waterless) is a sort of generator of rain clouds. In summer, under the influence of rising air above it, many kilometers of rain clouds are formed. This is determined by ground-based observations and photographs taken from satellites.

At the bottom of the depression is a small pool and a spring called "Cool" with slightly brackish water, flowing from a once drilled well. Water from it flows down the bottom of the hollow and is lost in its southern part, drowning in the sands. The south-western part is occupied by a drying lake, which is impossible to reach, since it is possible to collapse there.

Conclusion

Karagiy's cavity in every person causes completely different reactions and sensations. Some, while in these places, experience peace and joy. And others, on the contrary, feel headaches, anxiety, nausea, mood worsening and loss of strength.

Many old-timers believe that the "Black Mouth" in this way makes it clear who should stay here and who does not. No one can explain why this is so.

Often there were observed UFOs, to which the researchers gave different explanations. For example, there was a version that this hollow is a passage to another world. A UFO arrive with the goal of getting into that parallel world. The very first UFO appeared here in 1979.

Whatever it was, many of Karagie's riddles are still unsolved.
