The image of Starodum in the comedy "Nedorosl": characteristics, biography, quotations

The image of Starodum in the comedy "The Minor" can not be understood without the plot of the play. About the development of events and why the hero displayed generosity in various situations, the article will tell.

Prehistory of major events

First, the author acquaints the reader with the Prostakov family. The work begins with the fact that the mistress of the house scolds the servant for the fact that he badly sashes the caftan for his beloved son Mitrofan. On the stage there are other, same unique personalities - Mr. Prostakov, who constantly listens to his wife, and the brother of a woman who is also not kind.

Among all this farce, their distant relative, young Sophia, amazes them pleasantly. The girl has elegant manners and a gentle character. The mistress of the house plans to marry the beautiful woman of her brother Skotinin.

But everything changes when the characters learn that the young lady's uncle, whom they considered dead for a long time, unexpectedly sends a letter. In it, he notes that he wants to convey his great fortune to his niece. Therefore, Mrs. Prostakova changes the plan and wants to marry her unlucky son on a girl.

Meanwhile, Milo appears in the village, who is genuinely in love with Sophia. Beauty is also not indifferent to the glorious man.

Sympathy for an unknown guest

A very versatile image of Starodum in the comedy "The Minor." The first impression of him is formed even before his appearance on the stage. Most of the characters are so narrow-minded, illiterate and wild people that the reader immediately becomes imbued with sympathy for the unknown hero. Against the backdrop of greedy Ms. Prostakova, her weak-willed husband, an unreasonable son and a self-serving brother, Uncle Sophia seems to be a sensible and kind person. This is evidenced by a letter he wrote to his niece. The man notes that he really missed his relatives and regrets that he could not keep in touch with them. The hero also reports that he can serve as an example of how to honestly earn big money.

Do not be alien to him and generosity. Starodum gives his wealth to the niece. "Incomplete" (the characteristic of each character of this comedy requires a separate article) is a work in which feelings float on the surface. Therefore, among people who value money above feelings, a character unknown to the reader causes great sympathy.

Mysterious figure

For the first time this person appears in the third act. He has a long talk with his longtime friend Pravdin. From this dialogue we learn more about Starodum. It turns out that the first impression was not false. The man is actually very wise and kind. He says that his father, who served with Peter the Great, brought up his son under the old laws. People were then turned to "you". And "you" are those who considered themselves worthy of several. And now, as the guest says, "many do not stand alone."

The education of the Starodum is also covered. "Non-Horoscope" is a comedy where two generations are compared. So, the hero recalls that in his childhood they taught only one thing: the main thing in life is to remain human. There was no need to "fill your empty head with someone else's mind." A person without a soul, even a scientist, can be equated with an animal.

Recognize the reader and the story of the character. Many years ago the hero was betrayed by one count, whom he considered a friend. That man by cunning and cunning surpassed him in the service. Therefore, after returning from the war, Starodum decided to avoid such people and places that could "infect" him with anger and hypocrisy. He said: "The doctor will not help, unless he gets infected."

A wise mentor

Then the uncle meets his niece, who calls the "daughter of the heart". He notes that it will be a great pleasure for him to wrest a good girl from a family where greed reigns. He says that he will get "innocence from the network of cunning".

Here, the attentive reader understands how similar these two characters of the comedy "The Minor" are. The biography of the Starodum acquires new features. So, we learn that a man is about 60 years old and he went to Siberia, because you can earn money honestly there. Also, my uncle states that, guided by natural desires, you will not be poor, but human motives - there will always be something to be missed.

No less wisdom in the next line of the character. He notes that a smart child does not need money, and they will not save a stupid child. A man does not agree that wealth leads to respect. The only veneration that a hero recognizes is spiritual.

After this brief acquaintance of the reader with a special image of Starodum in the comedy "The Minor" leaves no room for doubt. His unquestionable wisdom is the law for a reasonable Sophia.

Philosophy in conversation

Meanwhile, Ms. Prostakova and her brother are starting a fight before the guest. When a woman learns that this person is that very rich uncle, he begins to crawl before him. But the man remains indifferent to hypocrisy. He announces that tomorrow he takes his niece to Moscow and there he will marry someone whom she deems worthy. Starodum believes that the choice of his daughter will in any case be correct.

The young lady reads the book, and my uncle says about the author: "He will not corrupt that man's morals with a pen." Then the hero talks with Sophia. Their conversation is similar to the philosophical treatise. They reflect on simple but important things for a good life. Here, a man acts as a teacher for a girl. His words are clever, and their content is simple. He easily explains the difference between real happiness and shadow, position and nobility. He advises on the part of family life: "Have a friendship for your husband that would be like love." Therefore, the reader is drawn an absolutely clear image of Starodum in the comedy "The Minor."

Fateful encounter

Then my uncle says that the girl needs to find a good husband. He was praised in Moscow by an officer named Milon. But about himself, the hero says that marriage is possible only if his adopted daughter agrees.

In a moment, these two people get to know each other. As it turned out, they have a lot in common. Starodum and Milon spared no effort for the sake of the Fatherland and believe that the main thing in a person is the soul. Afterwards, everyone will know that young people are in love, because the uncle gives his blessing on the marriage of an officer and niece.

One of the most beloved heroes of the play for all generations is Starodum ("The Minor"). The characterization of this character allows us to conclude that he has much in common with Milon. It seems that the author acquaints the reader with the image of his uncle in his youth through the portrait of an officer.

Exposing evil intentions

Has this hero and a good sense of humor. When he "carefully" listens to Mrs. Prostakov and Skotinin, he openly mocks their greed. Those so carefully trying to fool the head of a rich guest that they do not notice an important detail: Uncle at once recognized the insidious plan. Next, the man admits that his niece has become engaged to Milo.

But the obstinate Prostakov does not stop. She tries to kidnap Sophia and secretly marry her with her son. But a loud cry rises, and the officer saves his beloved. The lady is threatened by a court, but once again the good will of her uncle and niece, and they forgive a cunning woman.

Introduces another line in the play Denis Fonvizin ("Incomplete"). Starodum and other characters learn that because of the bad behavior of the landlady, the village passes under the control of the just Pravdina.

Tireless kindness

A considerable wisdom is shown by Starodum and his two companions to the teachers who worked with Mitrofan. The professor, who claimed money for the time spent, they refused. The second teacher, who refused money, because he could not teach a guy, pay compensation. And in the face of the third teacher, who in fact was a coachman, the guest recognizes his former servant - a charlatan pretending to be a professor. A wise man takes him to his place to give him work.

When Prostakova says that her life does not make sense, the rich guest replies that this is punishment for evil.

Cheerful, deep and interesting comedy "Nedorosl". Citations of Starodum are also relevant in today's society. Such a hero, like his principles, will always be relevant.
