The height on Kotelnicheskaya embankment: history and our time

Some architectural structures do not need special representation. Refers to them and the skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya embankment in Moscow. At least in photos this house was seen by any inhabitant of our country. But not everyone knows his amazing story. What is silent about the famous Stalinist skyscraper?

History of the building

The skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya embankment is unique in many ways. There are seven such buildings, and they were built almost at the same time, while only two of them are completely residential. This house was put into operation in 1952. The authors of the project and the leaders of the construction became famous architects Chechulin and Rostkovski, as well as engineer Hoffmann. The construction of the building involved prisoners, including military prisoners. According to the idea of Stalin, all seven buildings were to become not only a symbol of the greatness of the state, but also a reminder of the great victory. The builders left even messages on the walls of some apartments, individual lines of them have survived to this day. Above, the skyscraper resembles an equilateral triangle without one side. This impression is created by the central tower and two wings that depart symmetrically from it.

Right after settling ...

To settle in this house in former times was impossible for any money. Initially, only military men and families lived in one wing, and the second went to artists. The tenants received a new living space with the most luxurious repair and complete furnishing. In different years there lived such famous people as Nonna Mordyukova, Faina Ranevskaya, Nikita Bogoslovsky, Galina Ulanova and Alexander Tvardovsky. Of course, this list of famous residents does not end, you can continue it indefinitely. The skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya embankment was the limit of dreams even for wealthy citizens of those times. The entrances were always under the supervision of vigilant concierges and security guards. Despite all the wealth, the residents of the house could walk to each other's house, leaving the door open.

Vysotka on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment: a photo in our days and modern history

The house has long lost its elitism and inaccessibility. Today anyone can buy an apartment here. However, not all millionaires tend to settle in this house, and this is not surprising. Initially, the apartments here were not big enough. High ceilings and chic stucco molding combined with an absolutely unreasoned layout and tight walk-through rooms are far from the best option. However, not only this is a bad skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya quay for housing. There are also big problems with the infrastructure. Near the building it is difficult to put the car, it is difficult to remove garbage, there are interruptions in water supply and heating. Apartments in this building are sold constantly, you can also rent them for a day or a long period. But to do this is purely for the sake of the atmosphere. With regard to comfort for a similar cost, it is not difficult to find a more comfortable and pleasant accommodation in a new building. If you are captivated by a skyscraper on the Kotelnicheskaya embankment, you can also see the apartments in it during the excursion. The most popular among tourists in this building is the Galina Ulanova Museum and Illusion Cinema.
