The film "The Soldier's Father": actors, roles, plot and interesting facts

Soviet war films are an imperishable classic, which people review with pleasure decades after their release in the rental. Among them, the well-known film "Father of the Soldier" occupies a worthy place. Actors who performed their roles with talent, a touching story, coupled with the atmosphere of wartime, still cause tears in the eyes of the audience when watching a picture created in the 60's by the Georgian director Rezo Chkheidze.

Story line

The story, which she tells, begins in the summer of 1942, when an old Georgian peasant finds out that his son was sent to hospital with a wound. Giorgi Maharashvili immediately decides to go to Goderdzi, and the whole village sees off the old man on a long journey, falling asleep with his requests to bring news of relatives leading the battles on the front line. But he does not seem to hear them, he looks around silently, for all his thoughts are only about a long-awaited meeting with his son.

And it is not possible to accomplish it. When George arrives in the hospital, he is informed that Goderdzi recovered and again went to war. Struck by the news, the old man does not believe in the doctor. He rushes into the ward where the wounded are lying, but Goderdzi is not there, but the soldiers vying with each other tell the old man about his son-tanker, who, according to them, left for Demidov.

Get there George helps Arkady Ershov, good-natured young man, whom he met on the road. The search for the old man is not crowned with success in Demidov. A meeting with Arkady becomes key in the film "Father of the Soldier" (1964). After all, the long journey of the main hero to his son begins, leading the brave old man to Berlin, where the long-term war with Germany ends with the victory of the USSR.

Image of Georgy Makharashvili

Charismatic Georgian actor Sergo Zakariadze showed the viewer an incomparable image of George, who is warmly recalled by people who watched the film "The Soldier's Father."

A simple man, a little eccentric, but possessing a great kind heart, an old man with an unbending will - so sees his spectator. He, hearing a noise from the passing tanks of the house, runs out into the street at night and calls Goderdzi haughtily. The old man is not afraid of explosions, bullets, and drags the wounded Arkady. And when a German shoots a young man from an assault rifle, the old man courageously goes to the killer for a meeting, unarmed at the armed.

And this is one of the strongest scenes in the film "The Soldier's Father." Actors and roles performed by them, cause the strongest emotions. Unjust, brutal murder of Arkady, to whom, thanks to the brilliant play of Alexander Nazarov, the spectator immediately becomes imbued with sympathy, causes burning hatred for the enemy, and from this - and a sense of belonging to the protagonist who avenges the death of his comrade.

On the warpath

From this moment, George wants to go to war. However, the general and the senior lieutenant of the platoon are negative about this idea. Is it possible to take an old man for war? What happens if George is captured? This is a shame for the Soviet Union, which sends desperately to the front of the infirm old people. Actors of the film "Father of the Soldier" Peter Lyubeshkin and Nikolai Barmin skillfully play skepticism, causing some pity for the brave George. Meanwhile, the fighters have already respected him. Senior sergeant Nikiforov, played by Vladimir Privaltsev, is determined to take the old man into his platoon even under personal responsibility.

George is ready to enter into a duel with any soldier to prove that he is able to fight, along with the young, and he, unlike them, does not intend to get into captivity. The bold, brave old man achieves his: they take him into the platoon.

A movie that can teach a lot

George is eager to fight, comes to the aid of his comrades, when he is told to perform duties that have virtually no relation to the military. Despite Nikiforov's indignation, he remains in the trenches, explaining to him what the soldier's duty really is. However, all the way from Demidov to Berlin George will tell his colleagues a lot of common truths.

In the film "Father of the Soldier" the actors play one of the most instructive scenes in the film. Searching for his son in Germany, George turns for help to the tankmen. They do not know anything about Goderdzi, but the old man's men are not indignant with this. Tankmen want to move through the vineyard, motivating their actions by the fact that the Germans also destroyed everything in their homeland. George objected. Why be like enemies? Maybe a Russian soldier, like the Nazis, will start killing children in a foreign land? Tankmen are forced to surrender and acknowledge the rightness of the old man.

However, to him, one way or another, everyone is imbued with respect, not without reason, Senior Sergeant Nikiforov asks New Year to perform musicians Georgian melody in honor of a man who almost replaced his father's soldiers.

The film "The Soldier's Father": actors

The cast of actors completely conveyed the atmosphere of kindness, mutual assistance, typical for the Soviet Union, in particular wartime. It permeates Rezo Chkheidze's painting from the beginning to the end. It's not for nothing that the film "Father of the Soldier" is called a "film about the war without war". To create this mood was helped not only by the main actors, but also by the heroes who appeared in the episodes.

This is a disabled sailor (Victor Uralsky), who agreed to bring the silent old man to the hospital, and the fighter girl (Tatyana Reshetnikova), who brought presents to the soldiers in the trenches for the New Year, musicians (Ivan Kosykh, Valentin Kulik and Roman Wildan) who played the violin Sleeping soldiers, and, of course, Georgy's colleagues Nikolai and Grisha (Alexander Lebedev and Vladimir Kolokoltsov), along with whom he leaves Berlin.

The film "The Soldier's Father", the actors and the roles they played in the film, cling to the living, touching the soul. Maybe that's why people are reviewing it up to now.

History of scenario creation

It is interesting that the film "Father of the Soldier" is based on real events that occurred during the Great Patriotic War with Suliko Zhgenti, who wrote the script for the film.

He went to the front as a volunteer when he turned sixteen. During the hostilities, the future screenwriter received a severe wound. Like the protagonist of the film, his father wanted to visit his son, but did not find him when he arrived at the hospital. This story was told by Zhgenti in his script for the film "The Soldier's Father." Actors also realized his idea, and Sergo Zakariadze played the role of a man, the prototype of which was a soldier with whom the writer went side by side.

Prototype of the main character

During the war, his colleague Zhgenti was already over fifty, but, despite his age, he courageously fought for his country on a par with young soldiers. The old man had an impressive strength and helped his front-line comrades to carry heavy weapons during long transitions. A simple man from the collective farm overshadowed young soldiers from the bullets, distinguished himself with courage and courage. He became a universal favorite, he replaced his father with many young people at the front. The old man took care of Zhgenti himself.

When creating the script, Suliko gave the protagonist the real name of the old man - Georgi Makharashvili.

Universal recognition and the fate of the film

The film "The Soldier's Father" received wide recognition from the public and several cinematographic awards, among them the Capitol Jupiter Prize. A monument was erected in Katekhi, the combat friend of Zhgheni Georgiy Makharashvili. Only his features belong to Sergo Zakariadze.

However, for the director, the recognition was different. Rezo Chkheidze surprised and pleased the case when a young man from Sevastopol went to the police and confessed to the theft, because he decided to live honestly after watching the film "Father of the Soldier".

Actors who approached to work on it with a soul, a simple but surprising story made it one of the best films about the war. A tragic picture of George and his son Goderdzi (Gia Kobakhidze) people are still revising, and in 2013, appeared its color version. Over it, artists worked for five months and, most importantly, the director himself. The result of their painstaking work is not inferior to the black and white version of the film. Now the already-colored film "The Soldier's Father" will tell the new generation about the war, kindness, honesty and duty.
