The drug Polidex (nose spray) is used in otorhinolaryngology in infectious states of the upper tract: sinusitis and rhinopharyngitis of various forms. The composition of the drug Polidex includes the following components: antibiotics (neomycin, polymyxin B), as well as dexamethasone, phenylephrine. The combination of antibiotics contributes to a stronger therapeutic effect. This characteristic feature of the drug "Polidex" (spray for the nose) allows you to achieve several positive effects: anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and vasoconstrictive.

Description of the preparation

The component of the drug phenylephrine hydrochloride narrows the vessels of the nasal mucosa. This helps to reduce swelling of the tissues. The medical remedy "Polidex" (nose spray) fights with foci of infections of the upper respiratory tract. The therapeutic effect of nasal spray is activated by such components as neomycin sulfate and polymyxin sulfate. At the same time, microorganism cell membranes are destroyed. The "Polidex" is produced not only in the form of a spray for the nose, but also in the form of ear drops (in the latter there is no phenylephrine).

Additional components of the drug are: lithium chloride, methylparaben, citric acid (monohydrate), polysorbate 80, macrogol 400, distilled water.

Spray "Polidex" - application

The drug Polidex (nose spray) should be used only as directed by the doctor. The adult dose corresponds to a four-time injection of the drug into each nostril daily. The duration of the course is one week, a maximum of one and a half.

Children are also prescribed a remedy "Polidex" (drops in the nose). The instruction indicates three times the use of this drug per day for five to ten days. At the same time, special care must be taken - the bottle should be located in an upright position during spraying. In childhood, the agent is prescribed when the child has purulent discharge of yellow-green color.

Contraindications

There are contraindications to the use of the drug Polidex in the nose (instructions for use contain information on this). The drug is contraindicated:

  • Patients with glaucoma (zakratougolnoy form)
  • Children up to two and a half years;
  • With kidney disease;
  • Pregnant women and nursing mothers;
  • Patients with arterial hypertension, hyperthyroidism, coronary insufficiency (with extreme caution).

It is not recommended to use the "Polidex" tool to wash the nasal sinuses.

Side effects

Side effects of nasal spray include allergic manifestations (more often in the form of rashes to the skin), a positive test for doping control in athletes.

Overdose of the drug "Polidex" is practically impossible due to low adsorption of drops into the systemic bloodstream.

Interaction with other drugs

The incompatibility of this drug with drugs "Streptomycin", "Amikacin", "Netilmitsin", "Gentamicin", "Monomycin".

The drug retains its properties under the storage conditions. The air temperature should not exceed 25 degrees Celsius. The shelf life of the drug Polidex is long - three years.
