The emergence of a detective genre

It is believed that the homeland of the detective genre is England. It was there that the best detective writers lived: Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle and others, whose works became a source of inspiration for filmmakers and screenwriters. Any film, based on the works of classics of literature, is worthy of the title "The Best Detective." In Russia, this genre appeared in literature only at the end of the 19th century, when censorship was lifted and the iron curtain was canceled. In the USSR, the detective was one of the most popular and popular genres.

Russian masterpieces

The best Russian detective is difficult to distinguish, but, according to contemporaries, this title deserves the following pictures.

  • The brainchild of director Janik Faiziev "Turkish Gambit". The narration of the picture unfolds against the backdrop of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. The protagonist titular adviser Erast Fandorin (Egor Beroev), along with the random fellow traveler Varvara Suvorova (Olga Krasko) disclose a mysterious and confusing case of military espionage. In addition to brilliant acting casting, the cinema boasts a strong, vigorous plot without annoying sagging.
  • "The Capercaillie" was the first series, which was believed by all the spectators by the way. Its main advantage is simplicity. Since 2008, since the release of the first season, he has not lost his popularity and sympathy for spectators throughout all 3 seasons. Each of them had its own unique atmosphere, some memorable episodes, from comedic to tragic. The main characters remained unchanged - school friends investigator Sergey Glukharev and employee of the DPS Denis Antoshin.
  • "Karpov" is the product of fruitful collaboration between the creative duet of the directors Igor Romashchenko and Ivan Shchegolev. The protagonist, former police lieutenant colonel Stas Karpov (Vladislav Kotlyarsky), in the past made a mistake and sets himself against the whole world, but proudly takes blows of fate. The plot narrative is based on deep repentance, born in the fierce heart of all the beloved characters.

Distinctive features of the genre

For the detective film is characterized by an exciting tie plot. The viewer does not know who is guilty to the last. He studies all the evidence together with the main characters and gradually gets to know all the suspects by calculating the villain. The best detective is the one who can not guess who is still a criminal, until the last minutes of the picture are started.

What about the main characters, there are always a few: good and evil characters, as well as the victim, several suspects and lazy or corrupt police officers, confusing the investigation. And, of course, in any detective film in the end always triumphs good and answers are given to all questions.

Patriotic classics

For a certain part of the domestic moviegoer, the best detective is the Russian film "Ten Little Indians" (1987). And from the Soviet serials are popular "The investigation is conducted by ZnOtiKi", "The meeting place can not be changed", "Visit to the Minotaur", "Confrontation".

  • "Ten Little Indians." The film is based on the work of Agatha Christie. Many cinematographers call Stanislav Govorukhin's creation the most high-quality adaptation in Soviet cinema. The plot is known: 10 people come to a small remote island to spend pleasant time in a posh mansion. They do not suspect that they were gathered together with a specific purpose - to judge, and very soon they will be sentenced. The picture from the first minutes immerses the viewer in an ominous murky pool of intrigue and mystery. Competently chosen color resolution (tones of grayish-brown, muted) exacerbates the impression of viewing. The main roles are performed by the most talented and sought after Soviet actors of the 80s: V. Zeldin, T. Drubich, A. Kaidanovsky, A. Zharkov, A. Romashin, L. Maksakova, M. Gluzsky, A. Zolotnitsky, I. Tereshchenko, A. Abdulov.
  • "Confrontation" - the famous film based on the novel by Julian Semyonov. Director Semyon Aranovich managed to keep the stunning atmosphere of intense intellectual competition, confrontation, a duel between two very powerful, smart, perceptive and quirky minds during the timekeeping. And there were no dashing pursuits, frenzied shootings and tricks. The spectator feels the spirit of persecution until the climax. The protagonist, the investigator (actor Oleg Basilashvili), who understands the case, understands almost immediately that the crime is not an ordinary criminal act: everything is deeper from the historical and moral points of view.

The best detective - a series shot in the USSR

Recently, the world film industry has replenished with several resonant versions about the adventures of the great detective - the work of Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: The Game of Shadows and the series of the British production Sherlock. Despite their furious popularity, the viewer's love for the classic Soviet series of Igor Maslennikov's "Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson" (the movie makes 5 films) did not at all decrease, but on the contrary grows. The script of the initial two episodes of the series was written by Julius Dunsky and Valery Frid. The spectator was to draw a contrast between the characters of Dr. Watson (Vitaly Solomin) and Sherlock Holmes (Vasily Livanov). The situation was always discharged by the appearance of the lovely housewife Mrs. Hudson (Rina Zelenaya). Immediately after the release on the screen, the films acquired unimaginable popularity, and the phrases of the movie heroes became winged. The creators were literally overwhelmed with letters-requests from readers, in which they insisted on continuing. The authors of the series practically repeated the fate of Conan Doyle, who also continued the epic book about Holmes according to the numerous requirements of the readers.

Important little things

The best detective differs from second-rate paintings in that in it everything, even the most unremarkable moments, is important. The main point of the detective is the fact of the crime and all attempts to find the culprit in this crime. The film can be a collection of genres of mysticism, comedy and romance. The entire situation created by the author is as close to real life as possible, so you can easily feel yourself as one of the heroes of this work. This is the best detective story about serial killings, or rather, because it's extremely difficult to give preference to one project. These are "Maniac" (2012), "Hannibal: Rise" (2006), "American Psycho" (2000), "Collector", etc.

Detective Films

"Maniac" (2012). Producer Frank Halfon, joining forces with producer Alexander Azh and his permanent operator, Maxim Alexander, did almost impossible - restored the genre of primitive fear, pain and horror, which can be experienced literally physically. The main character maniac Frank (Elijah Wood) regularly removes scalps from unfortunate victims, after attaching them to mannequins. The plot is rather trivial. But after the hero meets a nice decent girl and seems to begin to build with her a normal healthy relationship, but no: makes itself felt sinister nature.

"Hannibal: Rise" (2006). Director Peter Webber decided to tell the whole world about the tragic past of the greatest villain of all time. Young Lecter is played by the pretty Gaspard Ulli. All his deviations are explained by death, or rather by the murder and nazi eating of the younger sister. The main character takes revenge on cannibals. A certain contribution to the development of his personality was also made by the love of Murasaki (Gong Li).

"American Psycho" (2000). Mary Harron impressed many with her professionalism after the movie was released. Her film proved to be very unconventional, and after a certain period of time began to be considered a cult. In the center of the plot narrative, Patrick Bateman: in the daytime - a respectable businessman, at night - a bloody maniac torturing his unfortunate victims in perverted and sophisticated ways. With each new murder, it becomes more and more unstable.

A little about other films

Separately, it should be said about detective films, in which there is an element of mysticism: "The Green Mile" (1999), "Sleepy Hollow" (1999). Villains in this case are otherworldly forces or people who have a mental disorder. This includes "Island of the Damned" (2009), "Sixth Sense" (1999), "Devil's Advocate" (1997). Extremely popular are films and serials in which they catch a dangerous maniac: "Seven" (1995), "Silence of the Lambs" (1990). Actual are film detectives, in which there are notes of love, romance and eroticism ("Ghost" 1990).

What is the best detective story, it is unequivocally impossible to assert due to individual preferences of each individual viewer.
