At the same time, all their commercial qualities are preserved almost completely.

The apple tree of Welsey is a medium-sized tree. Young plants have a wide-pyramidal crown. Every year it becomes more spread and round. The crown consists of slightly drooping branches, the ends of which are raised upwards. The apple tree of Welsey starts to bear fruit very quickly, for 4-5 years. The fruits of this variety have an average value (100-150 g). Their shape is usually flattened-rounded. The skin of apples is dense, thin and smooth. The funnel is deep and wide. Coloration of fruits yellowish-green with dark red stripes. Covering color (blush) can occupy most of the surface of the apple. The flesh of the fruit is almost white. In some apple trees, it has a greenish color with red veins. The taste of fruits is pleasant, sweet and sour. They have a delicate and delicate aroma. The flesh is dense, fine-grained, crispy and very juicy.

Agrotechnics

The apple tree of Welsey prefers well-lit patches. The soil must be moist, fertile, breathable. It suited sandy and loamy soil, regularly enriched with mineral and organic fertilizers.

This variety is common in many regions of Russia. It is also suitable for growing in the Moscow region. One of the significant disadvantages of this variety is the uneven maturation of fruits, so when untimely harvesting they quickly crumble.

Use of fruits

Welsey apples differ from others in that the palatability of the fruit varies greatly depending on the condition of the tree and the weather conditions. So, in the unfavorable (rainy and cold) years, their taste is a bit "grassy". They have a very rich chemical composition. Fruits contain sugar (10%), titrated acids (0.61%), ascorbic acid (10 mg / 100 g), pectin substances (10.5%), P-active substances (185 mg / 100 g).

Apples of this variety are well preserved, therefore they are a source of vitamins and other nutrients for several months. They can be consumed fresh, and can be used for cooking winter billets. Because they contain a lot of pectin substances, Welsey apples are often used for the production of jam, pastille, puree, mousses, jelly. Also, juices, compotes, cider and fruit wine prepared from them are good. These fruits are also suitable for the production of dried fruits.
