"Tesla Model S" is a 5-door electric vehicle, which is manufactured by the American company Tesla Motors. For the first time this machine was presented to the public as a prototype, in 2009, in Frankfurt. And full-scale deliveries started in 2012, in June.

"Heart" of the car

"Tesla Model S" is by far the most powerful electric vehicle in existence. No competitors are able to compete with this machine for their technical characteristics. The heart of the car is a lithium-ion battery. Its capacity is 85 kWh. This is enough for 426 kilometers of mileage without recharging. Not a single electric vehicle is capable of delivering such power today.

In general, first in the plans of developers and manufacturers was to start producing models, the batteries of which would have a capacity of 60 kWh. This would be enough for a much smaller number of kilometers (namely, at 335 km). There was another idea to produce a battery for 40 kWh. That would be enough for 260 kilometers. Start production

The company began with a small - it was decided to release at first only one thousand sedans. It was a limited edition, but with 85 kWh batteries. Two versions were available - Signature and Signature Performance. The cost of these cars was 95,400 dollars and 105,400 respectively. In Russia, "Tesla Model S" was sold at a price of 4.5 million rubles (according to the old exchange rate). To date, the most expensive option is a version that reaches "hundreds" in 4.4 seconds. In the year before, in 2014, a car was released such as "Tesla Model S P85D". It reached a rate of 100 km / h in just over three seconds.

Modernization and change

In 2013, the concern showed the public the opportunity to recharge the car in an interesting way. It consisted in the automatic replacement of the battery. During the demonstration, it was shown that this procedure as a whole takes approximately one and a half minutes. And this, I must say, is twice as fast as refilling the full bank of the car, under the hood of which the petrol engine is installed. According to the president of the company ("Ilon Max"), a slow recharge (enough twenty minutes to raise the level of available energy to 50%) will remain free. But only at the company's filling stations. A quick replacement will cost about 60-80 dollars. This amount is approximately equal to the price that many motorists give for a full fuel bank.

Statistics show that in the first quarter of 2013 in the United States sold about 4,750 copies of this model. So, this car became the most purchased and famous luxury sedan. Even more popular than the "BMW" seventh series, which is impressive.

In Europe, "Tesla Model S" is also very in demand. In Norway, in the first 14 days, 322 units were sold (ahead of Volkswagen Golf). And only by the end of the first quarter of last year, 2014, around the world sold about 32,000 of these machines.

Appearance

The hood is decorated with beautiful relief ribs. Also, a special charm of appearance is attached to the sliding door handles and the unusual shape of the doors.

But now about the interior, which Tesla can be proud of. The car (model S) features a bright feature - and it's just an incredible size 17-inch (!) Color touchscreen display. It turned out to be placed in the center console. Also, cruise control and power windows, climatic dual-zone climate control, rear-view mirrors that fold automatically and have electric heating - all this is inside, in addition to the above. In the car there is a powerful audio system with seven speakers, eight airbags, ABS, ESC and TCS. And of course, finishing. As materials, only high-quality leather and natural wood were used.

To begin with, I would like to note that the maximum speed is 200 km / h. The machine can be operated easily even at such considerable speed. Smooth running is ensured - that's what the Tesla Model S car is all about. Review, or rather, numerous reviews and test drives made it clear that all the shortcomings regarding the running gear have been corrected. The previous car "Tesla" was driving along the road, like a skateboard - it was very sensitive to uneven roads. But now everything is different. Even with bad roads, the machine manages, and reacts normally to sharp turns of the steering wheel.

Many claim that this model is the future of electric cars. Of course, people who are accustomed to often travel for long distances, this machine will not work. For such motorists, a reserve of 400-odd kilometers may not be enough. But for people who move around the city, from work to home, shopping or in the suburbs, this car will be just an ideal option, also economical. Especially for Americans, since, as already mentioned earlier, it is possible to refuel at Tesla bus stations for free. It's not for nothing that this model has become so popular there.

"Tesla Model S" in Russia - is it realistic to buy?

Everything is possible in this life. And to get "S-model" in the Russian Federation - too. Why not? Because officially these cars are not sold on the territory of our country? Yes it is. Not sold officially. But only in Moscow at the end of August 2014, about 80 Tesla cars of this version were registered. So the models still come to Russia. In the same year, about 180 copies were brought to Russia. But also these cars stand solidly. Starting from 111 500 dollars and finishing 152 400.
