Supplements with testosterone can be dangerous?

Testosterone supplements and anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) can cause heart attacks, behavioral changes and infertility if abused.

New Recommendations

Not so long ago, the US Food and Drug Administration said that the labeling on all recipes of testosterone supplements approved for treating men with a low level of this hormone due to certain diseases would be revised.

Millions of men now use pills, gels or receive testosterone injections in the hope of strengthening physical health or increasing libido.

Anabolic steroids are synthetic variations of testosterone and are used to treat problems such as delayed puberty, and diseases that cause loss of muscle mass (eg, cancer or AIDS).

What leads to abuse of additives

But adults and adolescents, including athletes and bodybuilders, often uncontrollably take testosterone and other AAS. The abuse of testosterone at doses higher than what was prescribed by the doctor, and usually in combination with other AAS, poses a serious health hazard, as these supplements affect the heart, brain, liver, mental health and endocrine system.

Adverse results of an overdose include heart attacks and insufficiency, strokes, depression, hostility, aggressiveness, liver intoxication and male infertility. Men who abused high doses of testosterone also reported problems such as depression, fatigue, irritability, loss of appetite, decreased libido, and insomnia.
