Starozhilovsky stud farm: address, telephone

Starozhilovsky stud farm is one of the most interesting objects of the cultural heritage of the Ryazan region. The complex was built in the late XIX century by the architect Shekhtel. The construction of the complex was also financed by the youngest son of the famous railroad builder in Russia, Baron Paul von Derviz.

Plant address

To find this historical complex in the Ryazan region if desired is not at all difficult. The village of Starozhilovo is a district center. From Ryazan to the stud farm you can get to, moving along the Ryazan highway. After about 37 km, in the village of Akulovo, turn right. Skip the majestic building of the stud farm near the village of Starozhilovo will simply be impossible. The size of the complex is significant, so it is noticeable from afar.

It is easy to get to the stud farm and by public transport. To do this, at the city bus station you should just take a bus, the route of which passes by the village of Starozhilovo. Some lovers of antiquity come to this village and on the train. You can take tickets for the train "Ryazan-Chemodanovka". From the very village it is not at all difficult to find a well-marked Starozhilovsky stud farm. The address of this complex is as follows: Ryazan region, Starozhilovo r. Etc., st. Konezavodskaya, 1A.

History of the factory foundation

The construction of this economic and historical object was started in 1891 and continued until 1897. However, the year of the opening of the Starozhilov stud farm is considered to be the 1893rd. The lands in this area were bought by Father Paul von Derviz in the middle of the 19th century. At that time the Ryazan-Kozlovskaya railway was being built past the village of Starozhilovo, the construction of which was headed by Baron von Derviz. The plot with the village he bought from the state-lady Olga Orlova.

After the death, the baron left his wife and son about 1 million rubles. Therefore, his heir realized the desire to build a stud farm quite quickly - in just six years.

Features of the complex

Initially Starozhilovsky stud farm von Derviz included 12 buildings. In addition to the premises for animals, there were inhabited buildings, a carriage house, a smithy, a cowshed, an arena, a dairy plant, etc. Unfortunately, today the complex has only a stable, several auxiliary premises and one residential building. Other buildings did not spare time. The walls and foundations of many pre-revolutionary structures have been preserved, but all of them are mostly picturesque ruins.

The architect of the complex, F. O. Shekhtel, who designed the project, was in fact not an architect. He received his education as an artist, and therefore did not adhere to any architectural canons during the construction of the stables. According to many connoisseurs of the late XIX century, eventually the building turned out to be too pretentious. However, Shekhtel knew in horses. Therefore, the complex itself was very convenient for the maintenance of animals.

Workers and cavalry horses of the Starozhilovsky stud farm

Initially, Baron von Derviz decided to breed and improve the Ryazan working horse at the new plant. To do this, they were purchased trotters Orel breed, three Brabanson and several Ardennes. As a result, heavyweight crosses were obtained, which had excellent characteristics.

Somewhat later, a repair department was set up at the Starozhilov stud farm, designed to breed cavalry horses. As producers, Baron von Derviz decided to use Arab, Eagle-Rostopchin and thoroughbred English horses. After a while, the trotters were also discovered. By 1897, the Starozhilovsky Plant contained more than 2,700 horses.

Plant after the revolution

After 1917 the enterprise of Baron Derviz was, of course, nationalized. From oblivion and destruction Starozhilovsky stud farm subsequently saved the fact that the new authorities needed horses very much. During the Civil War on the territory of the complex, horses were raised for the Red Army.

In the 1920s, Ryazan cavalry courses were organized in the premises of the plant. One of the pupils of this school was GK Zhukov, the future marshal who won the Second World War. Also these courses were often visited by Budyonny.

Plant during WWII

During World War II, the Starozhilov stud farm, unfortunately, fell into decay. At the approach of the Germans to the village, its inhabitants tried to evacuate the horses. But during the crossing over the river Oka the whole herd was lost. Some historians believe that this happened not accidentally. Perhaps the plant's workers deliberately drowned the horses, so as not to leave them to the enemy.

An interesting fact is that not a single bomb fell on Starozhilovo itself during the encirclement. Perhaps this is a pure accident, and maybe the German name of the former owner played a role in this case. After the Germans were thrown back, at Starozhilovo they drove horses from the Smolensk stud farm. Here the animals were until the end of the war.

60-70s

Immediately after the end of the Great Patriotic War, another batch of heavy-duty trucks and trotters arrived in Starozhilovo. However, the new era dictated its conditions, and most plants switched to the cultivation of non-military or working breeds, and sports riding. The same thing was done in Starozhilovo. The producing staff at the plant began to be equipped with trakene horses bought in Poland. Over 16 years of work, the stock of the Starozhilov stud farm has grown from 39 to 300 head.

In the late 70s, the trakehner horses were returned to their historical homeland - the Kaliningrad region. At the Starozhilovsky plant, they began breeding and improving the Russian horse breed. For the first time since the first owner, Orlov horses returned to the complex. Unfortunately, by that time the Russian horse breed had practically degenerated. With great difficulty, plant managers managed to find 21 mare. And the results did not keep you waiting. A few years later, such outstanding Russian horsebacks as the multiple champion of the USSR, Barin, silver medalist of the World Cup Dixon, the famous Duty, the Duke and Dialogue were raised at the plant.

Nowadays

Today, the Starozhilov plant is experiencing, unfortunately, not the best of times. It contains no more than two dozen horses. The building, not repaired since the 1990s, is gradually becoming dilapidated and even becoming unsafe. Employees of the company try to maintain it in a tolerable condition, but the roof of the stables is ready to collapse, and the floors are constantly failing. There is no heating in the building, therefore in the winter the horses constantly catch cold.

Residents of the Ryazan region collect signatures with a request to the authorities to pay attention to the plant. However, they have not yet achieved any special results.
