Where is Spindleruv Mlyn located

The Czech Republic is mostly a flat country. But there are amazing mountains in it called the Giant Mountains. They are located in the north of the country, in the upper reaches of the Elbe, near Germany and near the Czech-Polish border. The second name of the Giant Mountains is Mount Ispolina. The Germans call this array Ryubetsal. This word, like the Giant Mountains, means in the folklore of the local inhabitants of the evil spirit that dwells in the mountains and causes bad weather. But against Ryubetsal there is now a hydrometeorological center. Carefully follow the weather forecast, and everything will be fine.

History of the resort

Spindleruv Mlyn was formed later than the surrounding settlements. For example, Swati Petr is known as a temporary and then a permanent camp of miners of ore and silver from the beginning of the sixteenth century. Mlyn in Czech means "mill". At the end of the eighteenth century, it belonged to a certain Silesian German named Spindler. Gradually, around the mill began to appear buildings - a forester's house, summers, and then the permanent huts of the shepherds. But these places would have remained half-lived, if not for the mountain tourism. Already in the middle of the nineteenth century, the rich people went to Spindleruv Mlyn to breathe healthy air. As mushrooms after the rain began to grow chalets and villas. In 1922, Franz Kafka came here as well . In Spindleruv Mlyn he began writing his novel The Castle. A special peak of popularity of the resort reached with the advent of fashion for ski holidays.
