Solar panel: clean energy for your home

The phenomenon of converting sunlight into electricity was discovered 170 years ago. However, the first solar panel was manufactured and applied only in 1954. This moment can be considered a reference point, after which the new technology has become well-known and widely available.

Nevertheless, over a long period of time, solar panels have not been used anywhere. This was due to the fact that the production was quite expensive, and the products themselves did not pay off. But the fuel crisis of the 70s of the last century caused the world community to reconsider its view on the technology of generating electricity from sunlight. After all, in 20, 30, 50 years, a situation can develop that only available sun energy sources are sun, wind and natural underwater currents.

Who can buy solar panels for the house?

A solar battery can be purchased and installed by anyone who wants to improve the ecological situation. Of course, if one or two people install panels that will partly cover their electricity needs, the situation will not fundamentally change. But if such people are one hundred, two hundred thousand, you can already talk about improving the environment. One solar panel can not provide the whole house with electricity, but it is quite possible to use it to connect low-power household appliances.

Some people believe that it is useless to install such a battery in the northern regions because of the small number of sunny days in the year. However, skeptics can be reminded that the technology of obtaining electricity from sunlight is most developed in the Czech Republic and Germany. Agree, these are not the warmest and sunniest countries in the world.

How to make a solar panel

Most people do not mind using clean and free energy. There remains a small nuance: the solar panel has a rather high cost, even despite the invention of a fundamentally new silicon purification technology, which made the production process cheaper by about half. The price of batteries is different, it depends on the area of the working surface, the claimed power (usually overestimated by 10-20%, this should be taken into account when buying and installing), the manufacturer, the type of material used (monocrystalline, polycrystalline, tape and amorphous) and method Its application (conventional method or thin-film technology).

Because of the high cost, some prefer to make panels independently. The first way is handicraft: recycling of old diodes (they contain a photocell) and fixing them on a rigid frame. The second method is semiprofessional: the solar panel is made of cells created by industrial means, but the installation is done at home on a self-made frame.

You can do it easier and buy a panel. Moreover, according to the producers, it will serve not less than 30-40 years, and every year the problem of obtaining alternative energy becomes more and more actual.
