Siding outside. Types of siding

Siding (outdoor) - a modern non-flammable material for facing the facade of the building, which is designed to protect the walls from external influences: rain, wind, snow, sun. In addition, it performs an aesthetic (decorative) function, improves the exterior of the house, gives it a modern look, without requiring for this large financial costs and special work.

Siding for outdoor works

This is a wonderful material for exterior wall finishing, easy to install and process, and does not require special tools to work. At the moment there are several types of siding - wood, vinyl, wooden, metal (steel, aluminum, copper) and cement for the socle. This material is not susceptible to rotting and corrosion, as in the manufacture of it, it is treated with special compositions forming a protective film.

Siding (outdoor) has many advantages:

  • It is sufficiently durable (with proper installation can last up to 50 years);
  • Resistant to moderate mechanical stress;
  • Refers to environmentally friendly and practically non-combustible material;
  • Allows the walls of the house to "breathe;
  • Has the property not to absorb smells, not to attract dirt and dust;
  • Easy to clean with garden hose and strong water pressure.

To facilitate the installation, siding panels have special latch locks.

Wood siding

It is made from wood fibers, which are pressed under strong pressure and high temperature, with the addition of special resins. The material is covered with paint or varnish in several layers, which reliably protect against negative influences of the external environment. Externally, the panels look like a real tree. The service life of modern wood siding is more than 15 years.

Wooden siding

In appearance it resembles a wooden lining and differs by the type of wood processing and cross-section of finished products. It is made of wood-pulp mixture, which is pressed under the influence of high pressure and temperature. When manufacturing to improve performance, special additives are added to the mixture. The panels have a length of 5.5 m, a width of 11.5 cm, a thickness of 9 mm. Wooden siding is fastened to the wall using self-tapping screws through the prepared holes located at the top of the panels. They are fastened together like a groove-comb. Has a variety of colors (28 colors), several types of surface structure.

Vinyl Siding

Used for finishing absolutely any facades. In appearance it looks like the most common board, but it will not lose its outward attractiveness in 20 years, even in spite of sharp seasonal temperature changes, heavy rain showers and frosty frosts. This material requires minimal maintenance (it is well washed from a hose, there is almost no dirt attached to it). These PVC panels are made of polyvinyl chloride.

Steel siding

Steel siding (outdoor), as a rule, is used for finishing industrial buildings, warehouses, workshops, etc. In order to protect the metal from atmospheric influences, it is covered with a special anti-corrosion agent. Steel siding is available in different colors (6-8 colors), but with powder coloring the color range is unlimited.

Its main drawback is a fairly large weight, due to which the building's load on the foundation rises. In addition, the steel surface is not restored after accidental damage. The cost of such siding is high. The panels have a width of 12-55 cm.

Cement siding

Cement siding (external) is made by pressing cellulose fiber with cement. Its main advantage lies in the fact that it does not burn, due to what it is used for finishing works at sites where there is a high probability of fire and there are increased fire safety requirements. It is a waterproof and durable material that can withstand the effects of sun, frost, rain, wind. The disadvantages include high cost, high weight, which requires a powerful mounting crate. In addition, its processing is quite complex and uncomfortable, and painting is done by the forces of the consumer. The top of the panels is only primed and has a dull gray color. In this regard, after the installation works they must be painted.

For facing, cement siding is rarely used. The exterior finish of the house with siding is used both for new and for restoration of old walls. This material is widely used for facing the facade, warming and protecting the walls from external influences. Between the siding and the wall, if necessary, you can put mineral wool or any other thermal insulation material. Exterior finish siding - the work is not very difficult. At the same time you can get a quality, stylish house in time.
