Sexual infections: prevention, symptoms and treatment

Sex infections are diseases that are in most cases transmitted with unprotected intercourse of any kind. According to statistical data, the most frequent is the infection of a woman from a man, than vice versa. The most common sexual infections: gardnerella, herpes virus, ureaplasma, urogenital mycoplasma, chlamydia, cytomegalovirus.

Symptoms that indicate sexual infections: itching and pain when you perform urination and during sex, reddening of the mucous membranes of the genital organs. And also small ulcers and blisters in the genital area and on them, discharge with an unpleasant odor.

If these symptoms are found, it is necessary to visit a doctor urgently and undergo a test for sexual infections, during which a smear will be taken to identify the pathogen. Based on this, the doctor will prescribe the correct and adequate treatment, which will help to avoid serious complications. Blood tests for HIV, syphilis and viral hepatitis B and C are also conducted.

Sex infections are spread by climbing:

  • Stage 1. There is a defeat of the urethra in men and cervix and vagina - in women. This stage is often characterized by the formation of cervical erosion.
  • 2 stage. In men, the infection spreads to the prostate gland and kidneys, in women - to the uterus, its appendages and urinary tract.
  • Stage 3. In women, inflammation of the uterus and appendages develops into a chronic form, spikes in the tubes are formed. Men get chronic prostatitis, which is accompanied by a violation of the formation of spermatozoa. Patients can be observed: stomatitis, conjunctivitis, cystitis, pyelonephritis.

The main consequence of sexual infections, both in women and men, is infertility. There is also a risk of contracting HIV, hepatitis B or C. Therefore, it must be remembered that for these diseases self-healing is not characteristic, and the disappearance of certain symptoms can only say that the disease has become a latent form. In order for this to happen, treatment should be timely.

Treatment

As a rule, the treatment of sexual infections is based on the intake of antibiotics, immunomodulators and hepatoprotectors. If the disease has complications, then laser therapy, physiotherapeutic and ultrasound procedures are used. The effectiveness and result of treatment largely depends on the patient's treatment time for help to the doctor, against compliance with all prescribed recommendations and on the professionalism of the venereologist.

Prevention

In order to protect themselves from diseases that are sexually transmitted, you need to have only one sexual partner. If, however, there were any slightest suspicions of having an STD, you should immediately consult a doctor and undergo a thorough examination.

In this case, do not forget that all the necessary tests must be made by both partners, since otherwise a second infection can occur. The use of condoms is also a reliable means of preventing sexual infections.
