Screen with your hands - beautiful, functional, stylish

The screen as an element of interior decoration was very widely used in the countries of the east. Elegant mobile partitions made of precious woods, decorated with screens of the finest silk and translucent rice paper with fantasy paintings in the form of exotic birds, freakish colors and landscapes were functional enough, dividing the room into several zones. In Western Europe, interest in the screen manifested itself along with enthusiasm for Eastern culture and art. The refined eighteenth century pleased with the use of this kind of furniture decor, because with the help of the screen it was possible to create cozy, hidden from the prying eyes corners for privacy.

In the modern interior, the screen has not lost its functional purpose, on the contrary, it is made in the same style with the general space of the room, it can become a very convenient, simple and easy way of dividing it into zones. For example, using a screen, you can select a working or sleeping area in the common room, equip a children's corner or an impromptu winter garden.

The screen, made by hand, can become an original decorative "spot" in the interior, attracting attention and being the central link of the entire style solution. As a rule, this functional object consists of several wooden, plastic, metal forged frames or solid elements, connected by hinged loops. Frames and details of the screen are decorated in a variety of ways. Here the manifestation of fantasy can be unlimited. How to make a screen?

The most difficult thing in its manufacture is, in fact, frame frames. The easiest way is to make them from wooden bars, combining them with screws, glue and the classical way of connecting wooden details with a "spike-groove". For the manufacture of frames you will need certain skills and skills in carpentry. If they are not available, you should contact a specialist. Three wooden frames will cost quite inexpensively, but it will be good quality products. In addition to wooden, there are also forged elements of the screen. They can be ordered at specialized workshops. The wooden frame before it is decorated with a cloth is covered with several layers of colored paint laid on the primer layer.

After the frame is ready, the screen itself is decorated with various techniques.

1. A fairly simple way - decorating from transparent fabric, very well stretched on the frame and decorated with large applications of colored silk. To do this, you need to cut three parts from the capron or organza in the height and width of the frame. Then, from colored silk, cut out appliqués from flowers and leaves. Each element of the pattern is duplicated with a thin double-sided adhesive web. Then spread them on a fabric-base and iron with iron through a layer of fine cotton cloth. Glutinous dubbing must be cut very carefully, strictly along the lines of the pattern, so that the appliqué glued qualitatively and smoothly. After this, using a construction stapler, the fabric is stretched over the frames.

2. Beautiful decor is obtained from a transparent organza, on which pockets are sewn. In each pocket, you can put dried flowers and leaves, beautiful moss, twisted roots or thin branches of plants, decorative spikelets and shells. Such a screen will be a good fence for the green corner in the room. By the way, sewn pockets can also be used as storage space for various trifles. So, the screen, made by hand, will play another functional role in the room.

3. Solid wooden panels of the screen can be beautifully decorated with the help of decoupage techniques. Colored scraps from magazines with images of flowers, birds or reproductions from the paintings of great masters are glued to the surface, and on top are covered with a lacquer varnish, which creates the effect of antiquity. If one picture is not enough in size, glue several and delineate them with thin wooden plank. In addition to decoupage, use gold or silver plating, beautiful loops, then the screen will acquire an expensive, refined look.

4. The screens can be decorated with their own hands with colored nylon and satin ribbons, which with the help of a plain plain weave fill the entire hole in the frame. To complement such a decor can be bright buttons, large beads, rosettes of the same ribbons. Such a screen will be a wonderful addition to the room of a young romantic girl.

5. Finally, the screen, made with your own hands, can play the role of an original decorative lamp, if in its design use light glowing garlands collected from light bulbs, or narrow long daylight lamps that are easy to hide behind a cloth or translucent paper.
