Savelovsky station: how to get to it? History of Savelovsky Station

Construction of a railway line

The year 1897 arrived. It was at this time that the Moscow-Yaroslavl-Arkhangelsk railway began to build a branch from the village of Savelovo, located near the Volga, to the capital. The length of the new line was only 130 kilometers - it's not much, but it came in handy. True, at that time the workers did not even begin to build the Savelovsky Railway Station. A trading village called Kimry, through which a branch passed, was famous for its shoe makers at that time. Also located near the ancient settlement Kashin. Soon it was decided to build a road to Rybinsk, Uglich and Kalyazin.

The branch was built on both sides - from Savelov and from the capital. The rails were taken only manufactured at Russian plants - Bryansk, South Dneprovsky, Putilovsky.

Beginning of the station

It was necessary to think about the future building of the station. The choice fell on Butyrskaya outpost, located on the outskirts - there the cost of the land was quite acceptable. The Savelovsky line was extended to the Kamer-Kollezhsky shaft from a station called Beskudnikovo. But for the construction of the station it was still necessary to get permission from the Moscow City Duma. This process dragged on for a long time. However, when, finally, the permission was received, the workers delivered construction materials to the Butyrskaya Zastava, including stone and sand. They began to build the Savelovsky station, but it so happened that soon the construction was stopped.

End of the station construction

In the late autumn of 1900, work on the erection of the building continued. Supervised construction engineer named Sumarokov. There is an opinion that this person created the project of the station. The building turned out to be unremarkable, there was not even the main entrance. In general, it consisted of one floor, and only in the middle was the second, which was intended to house office apartments.

At some distance from the passenger station stood a building, called a military barracks. It was much larger than the station building. Barak was to serve as a temporary station for passengers. Not far from it was also a cargo yard. Although Savelovsky station looked rather modest, people nevertheless paid attention to it.

Celebration in honor of the station opening

The building was erected in 1902, in the spring. March 10, on Sunday, was consecrated the station, which was named Butyrsky. On the same day the first train left him. The newspaper Moskovsky Listok reported that the newly-made building and all the space around it had been decorated with numerous plants and flags since the morning. About noon from Yaroslavl station came the service staff with the chiefs and representatives of some railways, who were specially invited to the celebration. The holiday began with a prayer service performed before the icons taken from the church nearby. Then the station was sprinkled with holy water, after which all the guests followed the first-class hall: expensive alcohol was served there. Moscow has not seen such a magnificent celebration for a long time! Savelovsky station became an ideal reason for this.

Near the station, businessman Gustav List has built a new factory, suggesting that people living in the suburbs will be accommodated here. The capital's homeowners also took to the task. They, counting on the flooding of a whole stream of people, erected in the district several dozen new buildings. With the lightning speed, the value of the land increased. The building, as already mentioned above, was erected outside the city, not far from the capital. But the Moscow Duma was well aware that this area had become promising. Therefore, in 1899, papers were drawn up for a new demarcation of the capital and the county. After 12 months, some suburban areas began to be considered Moscow. That's the way people, whose houses were in a country village called Butyrka, began to be considered Muscovites - in this they helped the station and the railway branch. Circumstances developed for them successfully. They thanked destiny for Savelovsky station. Metro, by the way, is now very close to him.

Repair and Restoration

For a long time Butyrsky railway station (later named Savelovsky) functioned properly, however, as the number of traffic increased, it began to grow old, losing its beautiful appearance.

In the 80 years of the twentieth century it was decided that the building should be restored and properly repaired. The project was compiled by the staff of the Moszheldorproject Institute, which was headed by Shamrai. The repair dragged on for years. However, trains still traveled by rail - there were no obstacles for this. Ticket booths at this time were located in temporary buildings.

In 1992, the first day of autumn, the building, which received a new life, reopened its doors. At present, Savelovsky Station is, without exaggeration, an impeccable passenger complex providing visitors with a wide variety of services.
