Safety valve - guarantee of safe operation of the water heater

The safety valve, which is still called "reverse", performs several functions simultaneously. It comes as standard with any water heater and is an indispensable element when installing a boiler.

First of all, the safety valve is designed to be able to carry out an emergency discharge of water from the water tank at the slightest increase in pressure inside the boiler. When the pressure starts to exceed the allowable rate, the water is discharged by the valve through a special hole. Many consumers, as soon as the water begins to drip from the valve spout, it is assumed that a breakdown occurred. In fact, in this case, there was an increase in pressure, and began to run excess water. As soon as the excess water is removed from the water heater, the pressure inside it is normalized and the boiler starts operating normally. In some cases, the discharge can occur quite often, so experts recommend connecting a drainage hose to the valve to allow the water to be discharged directly to the sewer. This may slightly disturb the aesthetics of the room, but you will never have a puddle on the floor.

Frequent pressure drops can be associated with its jumps in a centralized water supply system. This problem is easily solved by installing a reducer at the entrance to the house or apartment, which will lower the pressure. Due to this device, no matter what pressure differentials will be in the water supply network, water will flow into the apartment at a constant fixed head. The pressure can always be adjusted with a special valve.

Another important function performed by the safety valve is to cut off the possible supply of hot water into a pipe with cold water. In addition, it provides a normal supply of cold water into the tank. The main task that the safety valve of the water heater performs in this case is not to allow the outflow of hot water into the pipe from the cold during the shutdown of the water supply system. This will help prevent the breakdown of the tan due to its overheating.

Since the boiler is a water heater that needs regular cleaning, there will always be a need for draining the hot water in the tank. The safety valve installed on the device makes it possible to do this without any problems. You can drain the water from the tank in various ways. The simplest way is to drain the water directly through the pressure relief valve. To do this, it is sufficient to put a suitable diameter hose on it, open the hot water tap - and you can drain the water using a special lever installed on the device. This is necessary to allow air to enter the tank, which contributes to the rapid drainage of water. In this case, the cold water supply to the tank must be shut off.
