Role-play is a representative of alternative reality

A person goes to work and comes back. Every day he performs routine tasks, sometimes he rests. One such lifestyle is quite acceptable. Another person seeks an alternative to such an existence and finds it. It is called the "roleplayer". This means that he belongs to a special community of people united by common interests.

Who are they?

The largest groups of this kind exist in large cities. Several thousand participants are in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Role-play is a special event for which people gather in a place on a certain territory. In general, their age ranges from 12 to 45 years. Although you can meet younger children, parents take them with them. In games, both men and women participate, and it can not be said that some gender is bending the scales in its direction.

Wearing special armor for the role-players, people turn into heroes of your favorite computer game, book or film. The main thing is the correspondence to the given epoch and the complete immersion in it. In order not to disturb the necessary atmosphere, it is necessary to provide for every detail in the suit and its behavior. A role-play is a person who comes up with a new original name or takes a suitable one from the corresponding work.

How it all began

For many, the role-playing game is associated with Tolkienists. And this is not accidental, because it was the famous book of J. Tolkien that stimulated the emergence of a new subculture. The first community was formed in England in 1969, the second was the American, whose members participated in the story games since 1970. In our country, the role-players, whose subculture attracted the freedom that was lacking, began to appear in the 90s. And the beginning was the appearance of a book by the same author, printed in samizdat. The first site was the land near Krasnoyarsk. There for the first time there were "Hobbit games".

What are they like?

Activities of this kind are attractive in that they clearly outlined the confrontation of evil and good forces, and also have the opportunity to try on a favorite image, become at least for a while a magical creature. But there is also a separate category of those who like not to participate, but organize this large-scale action, and also to produce costumes, weapons and other necessary attributes, without which participation becomes impossible and meaningless.

Gradually formed a special slang, so the conversations of the role-play for an uninitiated person may be incomprehensible. But the society has its writers, musicians and poets, who not only speak a special dialect, but also compose literary works on it, write suitable music. They, like those who create armor for the role-players, are respected members of the community.

Can be hooligans

The role-player is a member of peaceful communities created for entertainment and self-affirmation. But there are also aggressive groups. They set themselves the goal of violating the activities of other associations, hinder the holding of rallies, and some unite the love of hallucinogenic fungi. They are called "Mushroom Elves". But if you do not take into account these negative phenomena, you can say that for the most part, the roleplayers, whose games are inaccessible to the general public, are ordinary people.

Why are they doing that

Some, having tried to participate in the event once, no longer dare to repeat such an experiment. This is not surprising. After all, for a suit, equipment, payment of travel to the place of fees, it takes a lot of money, and this is not affordable for everyone. Others do not like living conditions, not everyone agrees to live without amenities, which they are used to in the city. For some, on the contrary, the opportunity to sit by the fire against the background of wildlife is romantic and incomparable pleasure.

People who regularly attend games do so for different purposes. Someone is attracted to large-scale battles, someone wants to get away from everyday problems. Fans of the movement of the role-players, of course, are sick with souls for everything to happen as close as possible to virtual reality, without deviations from the original.

But for most of these games - just a way to organize your leisure. Currently, the role-players take part in events that are held not only in nature. There are several varieties, for example in large and small rooms, in urban conditions. The games differ in duration and in the purpose for which they are conducted. Some represent only combat battles without outlining the main plot. Whatever it was, the roleplayer lives a piece of someone else's life.

How the event is organized

The game usually takes place under the leadership of the leader. It is he who has knowledge about what action is devoted to, in which direction it will develop. It is necessary to take into account any little things, even possible atmospheric changes. He has on his hands - a list of players, a description of their characters and fates, that is the result of their life, to which they must come at the end of the game. The leader watches how everything passes, how the participants support the conformity of the images, and in fact some people have to be in someone else's guise for a long time. We can say that the role-playing game is like a long play, in which actors only improvise. Beginners here love and are always ready to give good advice. The main thing is to remember that the elders must be obeyed, otherwise they can suffer and in the first battle they suffer serious losses.

The role-play is also the one who participates in the reconstruction of grandiose historical events. The participant in this case may not be a member of the community, but he will also have to make or purchase a suit corresponding to the subject of the event, prepare weapons, household items. Many specially master specific weapons, for example, onions, learn to ride horses to be able to participate in special types of battles, for example, in a knight tournament. But the role-players differ in that some recreate what really was in reality, while others realize the author's fantasies, allowing to realize what existed only on paper.
