Review of the SUV Opel Frontera

In 1991, the world premiere of Opel Frontera of the first generation was held. This car is notable because it is not completely German. This is an adapted version of the Japanese-made Isuzu Rodeo SUV. Changes affected only the engines. The transmission was Japanese, the engine was German, and the car itself was assembled in England.
Opel Frontera first generation

This model was produced with 2 types of bodies - five-door with a long base (Estate) and three-door with a short (Opel Frontera Sport). The engine on an off-road car was established either petrol (115 hp), or diesel (115 hp). Brake mechanisms: rear - drum, front - disc.

In 1995, the Opel Frontera car was significantly improved. Springs in the rear suspension were replaced by springs, the lower wing of the tailgate was reclined to the side, not down. On it began to install a spare tire. Previously, it was in the trunk.
Opel Frontera - second generation car

This model entered the market in 1998. The appearance has changed a little: there were changed rear lights, a new grille, a more powerful bumper, a triangular window on the Opel Frontera Sport and podshtampovki on the sides of the body. The configuration of the side windows and the wheel arches give this car a more dynamic look. The engine was installed either gasoline (with direct injection or V6 3.2-liter), or diesel.

But perhaps the most noticeable and important novelty was the electronic system, which allows to disconnect and turn on the all-wheel drive when driving an off-road car no more than 100 kilometers per hour. For an additional fee for an SUV, it was possible to order a 4-band autotransmission.
Moreover, the 2nd generation Opel Frontera SUV is distinguished by better roadability and off-road capability. This is made possible by a wider front and rear track, a five-speed box and disc brakes.

Noticeably decreased noise in the cabin due to updated powertrains, additional sound insulation and improved aerodynamics.

Safety in the car is provided by belt pretensioners and full-size cushions. The rear seats have head restraints that can be adjusted in height. As an option, you can purchase a central headrest for the rear seat of a five-door car.

The luggage compartment is large. Its volume is five hundred eighteen liters, and with the combined rear seats - 1790 liters. It opens in several stages. First, it is necessary to raise the upper part of the glass, and then slide the lower part of the door on which the spare wheel is mounted.

Also changed and the dashboard. There was a display of the navigation system, which combines many functions - from the telephone directory to the trip computer. Since 1999, the Opel Frontera SUV is equipped with an ABS system.

Since 2001, Opel Frontera Sports Olympus is being sold, the release of which was timed to coincide with the Olympics.

In 2003 production of Opel Frontera was discontinued. This happened because of a decline in demand for a car. However, in 2006, the new model Opel Frontera was launched, which has nothing in common with previous cars. The prototype SUV was the concept car Chevrolet S3X on the platform Teta.
