Really talented actors. "Silence of the Lambs" is a masterpiece created by them
Very often the film is made by actors. "Silence of the Lambs" is a vivid proof of this. Only here not always spectators can imagine, with what the actors have to face during the filming process to create a real masterpiece of cinema.
Briefly about the plot and genre accessories
When an avid moviegoer is asked to name a few of the best psychological thrillers, in the top three he will most likely mention "Silence of the Lambs". Actors and roles, they thoroughly implemented, became the hallmark of this film.
The plot line of the film is permeated with deep psychologism. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant surgeon and psychiatrist, is serving his sentence for the murders he committed and subsequent acts of cannibalism. A young woman, an agent of the FBI, Clarissa Starling, meets with him in prison in order to understand the hidden motives of another criminal maniac. Between the prisoner and the girl there is a kind of psychological connection. Lecter begins to play with her in a rather strange game, asks her to tell the most secretly difficult moments of her life. Clarissa remembers a lot, and among other things, and how she was trying to save a lamb from a slaughter. Lecter gets acquainted with the case of Buffalo Bill, over which Starling works, and points out to her some points that the girl should pay attention to ...
The actors of the movie "Silence of the Lambs"
The main character of the film, Clarissa Starling, embodied the incomparable Jodie Foster. By the way, she was awarded an Oscar for her role in this film. And the actress herself believes that the reincarnation in Clarissa Starling she really succeeded.
An interesting fact is that originally this role was written specifically for Jodie Foster. However, before the filming was replaced by the director of the film, and Clarissa was supposed to play Michelle Pfeiffer. However, the latter refused to participate in this project, considering it too cruel and bloody. So the role of Clarissa was still approved by Jodie Foster.
Jack Crawford, the agent of the young agent Starling, was played by Glenn Scott. According to the plot of the film, this man suggested that the girl do the Buffalo Bill business, he also introduced her to Lecter. Jack is tormented by guilt for all committed and imperfect maniac crimes, and this adds a film of psychology. Interestingly, after shooting, Glenn Scott suffered a lot of nightmares for a long time.
No less interesting are the other characters in the film, as well as the actors who played them. "Silence of the Lambs" is a film about the lost souls. Probably the most lost of them is the maniac of Buffalo Bill.
He just wanted to be reborn ...
This man loved butterflies. And he had to be born a woman. But this did not happen, and he did not find another way out, how to start hunting for plump girls and starve them. And after the death of his victims, he sewed from their saggy skin overalls. He really believed that it would help him to be reborn and become a woman.
The image of Buffalo Bill is collective. His prototypes in real life were Gary Heidnik, a maniac starving his victims, Ted Bundy, a handsome guy lureing women with a lime gypsum bandage on his arm, and Ed Gain, who was ripping off the girls' skin. These images were used in other films, they were masterfully embodied by different actors. "Silence of the Lambs" remains the only tape where all these maniacs appeared in front of the viewer in one shell. Buffalo Bill was played by Ted Levine, an actor who can be seen in the series "The X-Files" and the films "Fast and the Furious", "The Hills Have Eyes", "Davilka" and "The Island of the Damned."
And yet unconcealed cruelty personified not only this maniac. There was another character in the film, which by right can be called the main character. Probably, he is also the main actor in this film history.
"The silence of the lambs": the image of Hannibal Lecter
He does not spend more than twenty minutes in the film. And while he was able to convey all the horror, hiding in the depths of insanity, in such a short time. His eyes are telling a lot - piercing, heavy, as if reflecting universal knowledge.
Yes, this is Hannibal Lecter. In the "Silence of the Lambs" his image was masterfully embodied by Anthony Hopkins. For this role, he also received an Oscar. But he completely disappeared in the work on this project. Anthony Hopkins visited prisons and communicated with prisoners. He also observed the most real maniacs in custody. It was they who learned this look-unblinking, terrible.
The wealth of the film is his actors. "Silence of the Lambs" is a ribbon on which the best worked. Therefore, the result was impressive.
