Process Ctfmon.exe - what is it?

Now we will try to answer in detail the questions about Ctfmon.exe: what it is, how the process works, what it is intended for. Special attention will be paid to the possibility of disabling this function.

Details: Ctfmon.exe - what kind of process

Probably, almost every user of a personal computer at a certain moment met in the task manager of the operating system with the process Ctfmon.exe. This "magic" process itself restarts, even if it is forcibly disabled. If Ctfmon.exe is deleted at startup, the desired effect can not be achieved either.

This element will be launched along with the operating system. What is it for? If you try to briefly answer the question about Ctfmon.exe (what it is), it should be said that this is a Windows process under the control of which is "User input" and, in addition, "Language panel" (keyboard layout switch with which You can change the input languages).

Ctfmon.exe: what does this give the tablet?

This process is responsible, among other things, for a number of additional features, including speech recognition, as well as handwriting and the use of the on-screen keyboard. Obviously, without such opportunities, interaction with the tablet computer could become much more complicated. In case you use any of the listed functions, you need to leave this process on.

Suppose that you do not need these features, then you should pay attention to the ways to disable this service. Based on what system you have and how it is configured, there are several options for stopping the process. Let's consider them in the next section.

Shutdown algorithm in the "Office"

You can disable alternate input in Microsoft Office by removing this function through the installer. To this end, go to the "Control Panel", and then in "Uninstalling Programs", find the installed Microsoft Office.

Select "Change" and tick the item "Advanced setup". We proceed further. We find "Alternative Input" and remove this package from the installation.

Disable in Windows

Open the "Control Panel", select the "Languages" item. We pass to the tab with the same name. We click on "Details." Go to the "Advanced" tab by checking the box next to "Turn off text services". Thus, the process of interest to us will immediately be closed. Next, start the "Task Manager" and make sure that Ctfmon.exe is missing.

The layout indicator on the keyboard from the tray will also disappear, but this function will work as usual. If you use the Windows Vista operating system, the shutdown algorithm changes slightly. Open the "Control Panel", we find there a section called "Clock, language, region", in which we select the item "Change layout".

We go to the tab "Languages of the keyboard", click on the item "Change the keyboard". After that, we get to the window, which we already know by the description above. Thus, to complete the Ctfmon.exe process, you need to remove additional services for input, except for your layout, which is installed basic, from the table called "Installed Services".

This process can also be removed from the startup. To do this, you must, first of all, perform all the steps described above, because otherwise Ctfmon.exe will automatically return to autorun. To this end, go to the "Start", select the "Run" function, specify Msconfig.exe, or type the same command in the main menu search. In the configurator, go to the "Startup" tab.

We find the process Ctfmon.exe in the list and disable it, having refused the checkbox opposite the specified entry. There is also the option to disable the registered libraries that are busy starting the input methods. To this end, you must enter special combinations in the command line or in the "Start" - "Run" item.

In case you resort to this step, you must also get rid of the corresponding process in the autorun, as we discussed above. If everything is done correctly, after restarting the computer, you will see that the process of interest from now on does not start.

Correcting Languages

The language bar problems can be related to the fact that Ctfmon.exe does not start, because this process is responsible for keyboard layout and input. The same file can be found in the following way: open "My Computer", go to drive C, then start the Windows folder, and then System32. We address to this directory, we find Ctfmon.exe, we start it manually.

If you have lost the language bar after performing the described operations, it will become available again. The start line of this file will be added to the startup, and every time you access the system, the program will start automatically. If we have already talked about language panel problems, it should be noted that many of them can be solved with the Punto Switcher program.

So we dealt with the main issues that concern the process Ctfmon.exe: what it is and how this function works.
