Powder 'Teraflu'. Instructions

The "Teraflu" powder is a fairly common complex remedy. The medicine is used in the treatment of influenza, colds, and relief of the common cold. Produced in a variety of forms. So, for example, for rapid relief of symptoms, the drug "Teraflu-Extra" is used.

The drug has antiallergic, antipyretic, analgesic, decongestive (decongestant) effect. Active components are phenylephrine, phenyramine maleate, paracetamol. (The drug "Teraflu-Immuno" includes zinc gluconate, ascorbic acid, echinacea extract).

Paracetamol has an analgesic, antipyretic and insignificant anti-inflammatory effect. Phenylephrine has sympathomimetic activity - reduces flushing and swelling, provokes narrowing of the vessels in the mucous membranes of the paranasal sinuses and nose. Pheniramine maleate, blocking H1-receptors, has an anti-allergic effect. The component eliminates tearing, reduces itching in the nose and eyes, eliminates rhinorrhea.

The drug "Teraflu" recommends the use of a short-term symptomatic treatment of inflammatory-infectious diseases in adults and children (flu, acute respiratory viral infection) complicated by chills or fever, headache, hyperthermia (fever), runny nose or nasal congestion, muscle pain.

The drug "Teraflu" instruction allows for adults and children from the age of 12 years.

Powder from one sachet should be dissolved in hot water (boiled) and drunk in a hot form. In a day, you should not take more than three packets. It is not recommended to use the medicine for more than five days.

If symptoms persist for more than 5 days, discontinue use of the drug and consult a doctor.

The medicine "Teraflu" can cause a number of negative reactions. Side effects include bloating, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, allergic reactions associated with hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid. Paracetamol can cause hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, rashes on the skin, leukopenia, urticaria. Phenylephrine provokes an increase in blood pressure, reflex bradycardia, mydriasis, difficulty urinating, a disorder of certain functions of the endocrine and other systems. Pheniramine can cause dryness of the mucosa of the eyes and mouth, drowsiness, changes in behavior, dyskinesia, epileptic seizures (extremely rare).

The drug "Teraflu" does not recommend the instruction in cases of severe renal, cardiovascular or hepatic disorders, arterial hypertension, epilepsy, diabetes mellitus. Do not prescribe the drug for obstruction of the neck in the bladder, prostatic hypertrophy complicated by difficulties with urination, stenotic ulcer in the duodenum and stomach. The instructions refer to children's age (less than twelve years), pulmonary pathology (including bronchial asthma), lactation and pregnancy, and a closed-angle glaucoma to the contra-indications for the appointment of the drug "Teraflu". The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity. If necessary, take the drug while breastfeeding, stop lactation.

When the drug "Teraflu" is used in combination with anti-inflammatory non-steroid drugs, the probability of developing side effects, especially from the urinary system, increases.

Overdosing manifests as vomiting, pain in epigastrium (observed, usually after forty-eight hours or the first day). There is also a visual disturbance, coma, convulsions and other symptoms. In case of an overdose, symptomatic therapy is indicated.
