Polycarbonate Car Canopy: ideal for car parking

A person who bought or built a dacha for himself should also worry about his iron horse. He will certainly need protection from precipitation and ultraviolet radiation - this will prolong the life of the machine and save unnecessary costs for premature washing. In most cases, the garage in the dacha is irrational: it takes away precious space, roads and is complicated in construction and is usually empty. An ideal exit for a summer residence of the car can be considered a carport for a car made of polycarbonate. Firstly, it can be built independently. Secondly, it will cost many times cheaper. Thirdly, during idle time, it can be used as a gazebo. And fourthly, visually it does not make heavier the landscape.

Canopy Design

Before you start laying a carcass from polycarbonate, think about its location. Under such a parking lot you can take the most junk piece of your site. For example, one that experiences a constant lack of sun or is always excessively moisturized. Plants will not survive here, and parking can turn out excellent.

Consider the option of wall mounting. So you will have a place, usually empty, but perfectly suitable for car polycarbonate carport. The price of the structure, usually fluctuating from 25 to 40 thousand rubles., At the same time it will significantly decrease, as you do not have to pay additional racks that will be necessary if the shelter is set separately. You can save from 4 to 8 thousand rubles, depending on the type of frame.

Take into account the dimension. If you have planned a canopy for one car with a length of 4 meters, then the design must have dimensions of at least 5x2.5 m. For a minivan or an SUV, the carcass from a polycarbonate grows up to 6.5x3.5 m.

Frame options

It is worth considering the type of basis for the canopy. There is a fairly wide choice.

  1. Wooden frame. Is going fast, it is inexpensive, it looks aesthetically. The only negative is the natural processes of decay and biological damage. But if the wood is pre-treated with the right preparations, then "auto-talk" will last a long time.
  2. Metal carcass. Gathered from channels and pipes, connected by corners. The cost will be more expensive, the work is more complicated, but the service life is almost infinite, if you periodically tint the elements.
  3. Prefabricated finished frames. Made from different materials, but it is better to prefer stainless steel. If the size is included in the allotted space - an ideal option for self-erecting a canopy.
  4. Forged frame. The most expensive in both procurement and erection - for installation will need a team. But the most spectacular and "long-playing". It is usually chosen under the car polycarbonate carport for a country house, where the residence is permanent.

For a dacha usually choose either wood or metal in slicing.

Polycarbonate Car Canopy with own hands: carcass assembly

Regardless of the type of "skeleton" that you have chosen, the algorithm of actions remains constant.

  1. Clearing and leveling of the allotted area.
  2. Marking of supports under a canopy. Angles - strictly perpendicular, the number of supports depends on the project.
  3. Drill holes at a depth of half a meter minimum.
  4. Installation of support poles with verifying their verticality.
  5. Securing the racks. You can pour concrete, you can fill up with coarse construction debris and fix it with cement mortar.
  6. After the final setting - strapping on top of vertical racks by welding, bolts or screws - depending on the material of the frame.
  7. Fastening of transverse elements.

The main work is finished. If the frame is metal, it will be necessary to clean the welding seams, polish them and paint the entire structure.

Polycarbonate laying

The material in the work is quite simple. Sheets need to be cut, which is quite simply done by an ordinary Bulgarian. Do not want to complicate yourself - make an exact project and buy polycarbonate in a cut in your sketch form.

The cutting is fixed to the rafters with self-tapping screws and washers-thermocompensators or special profiles made of polycarbonate. If the roofing material is cellular, it is necessary to leave the compensation gaps - such polycarbonate "walks" at temperature fluctuations. The polycarbonate carport is covered (photo above) without removing the protective film from the material - it is removed after completion of the work. The ends of the sheets are covered with overlays or a special perforated tape to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the material.
