History of Poker

But before considering the rules of poker for beginners, it is worth going into the history of this game. Poker is a popular card game that is known all over the world. There are still discussions about the origin of the name of the game. If you believe the most popular version, then "poker" came from the word "pochen", which from German translates as "knocking."

The first mention of poker was related to the 16th century. This game originated in Europe. In those days, the rules of poker were slightly different. But over time they changed, until they came to a modern look. The first mention of the modern version, which was written certified, appeared as far back as 1829, in the memoirs of popular actor Joe Cowell. Five years later, in 1834, poker began to use a deck consisting of 52 cards. In the future, the rules of the game have not undergone significant changes. Despite the fact that the rules of the game constantly varied, the essence remained the same. The victory always depended on the availability of this or that poker hand.

Now we will discuss the basic rules of poker for beginners, poker combinations. After reading this article, you get the basic concepts that will help when playing in Hold'em.

How to play poker? Rules for beginners

This article is for beginners. In it we will consider the most important rules of poker for beginners. Toward the end, we will also talk about the main combinations. Want to learn how to play poker? The rules of the game are quite simple. There are several participants at the table (from two and, as a rule, up to ten). The game itself begins with the distribution of cards. The rules of distribution in poker are pretty simple. The player who gives out the cards is called the dealer (in online poker, there is the letter D beside him). After the end of the deal, the dealer's title moves to the next clockwise player.

After the hand, the first bets begin. This stage of the game is called preflop. Two players behind the dealer make automatic bets, called small (MB) and big blind (BB), respectively. BB is twice as large as MB. Then the move goes to the next. He, in turn, can perform one of the actions, which we will talk about below.

Action in poker

If in the current round no one raised the bet, then the player can say "check". After using this action, the move moves to the next clockwise player. As a rule, "check" means that the player does not want to raise the bet. Most likely, he has a weak or undigested hand.

The action "bet" can be used in case no one during the current round has raised the bet. That is, if all previous players said "check". Using the action "bet", the player raises the bet by a given amount. "Bet" is used to show the presence on the hands of a good combination. This function is also used for bluffing.

"Paz" ("fold") denotes the player's refusal to fight for the bank. The one who said "pass", has the right not to bet in the current hand. However, he can not win either. Typically, "fold" is used in case the player has a bad, weak hand or a combination.

"Call" is used in case if one of the previous players raised the bet (said "bet"). "Call" means that the player supports the previous player's bet and contributes the same amount of money to the common bank. If the player said "call", then there are two outcomes. Or he has a good, competitive hand, which can grow into a strong combination, or he bluffs.

"Raise" can be used if one of the previous players said "bet." "Raise" means that the player not only supports the previous bet, but also makes additional money. "Raise" says that the player has a powerful combination or he just tries to intimidate opponents so that they say "fold".

Flop

When the players are equal in the bets, the preflop stage is over and the flop begins. A flop is a stage where three cards are laid out on a table. Thanks to this, players can soberly assess their chances, suggest possible combinations. A new round of trading begins, which is no different from the previous one. The player can also raise, call, support a bet or simply fold.

The Turn

The turn is the period when the fourth card opens. Thanks to this, the picture at the table becomes much clearer. Players clearly realize their chances of winning. The penultimate trade begins. As a rule, it is at this stage of the game that the first bluffs begin.

The River

The river is called the stage of the game, when the last, fifth card is laid out on the table. Players see their final combinations. The last round of trading begins. During the river, players begin to actively bluff and intimidate opponents in order to take the pot without opening it.

Card opening

The essence of this stage is that players who stayed behind the table after the final round of trade show their cards. The bank is taken by the one who has the strongest combination of cards. If two players managed to collect equally strong combinations, then in this case the bank is divided equally between them.
