Pistol Grand Power K100: specifications, photos and reviews

Czechoslovakia before the collapse of the state into two parts from time to time created small arms that can adequately enter the foreign market. When Slovakia separated from the Czech Republic, the latter received the bulk of weapons companies. Nevertheless, Slovak engineers did not cease to make attempts to organize large-scale production of weapons on the territory of their country. To date, the greatest attention among Slovak weapons deserves the company Grand Power, in particular its line of pistols K100. It is with these products that we will get acquainted today.

Historical digression

Yaroslav Kuratsin (head of the company and chief designer) violated the creation of the Grand Power K100 pistol back in the early 90's. Inspiration for this project, he got from the old Steyr M1912 pistol, or rather from its combat and recoil indicators. Almost three years left for the study of the model and the search for an enterprise that could make an experimental copy. On the prospect of creating his own production of Kuratsin then did not think. By the way, the pistols of the company are still manufactured at the capacities of other factories.

The first prototype appeared in 1997, he received the index Q2000. A pistol was manufactured at the Povazh Machine-Building Plant. After a number of tests, the design received some refinements. As a result, in 2000 an updated model with an index of K1 was presented at the IWA exhibition in Germany. Immediately after this, the pistol suffered a number of minor improvements. This time it was named Grand Power K100. It is this model that has become the basis for a number of modifications, which will be discussed below.

Device

The automation of the model is based on the kickback of the barrel with a short stroke. This is how the prototype of the Steyr M1912 pistol worked. Another borrowed and fundamentally important feature is the locking of the bolt by turning the barrel. This is due to a special groove of complex shape, located on the breech part of the trunk. When the bolt cover moves with the barrel back, the groove engages with the pin located on the frame, causing the barrel to rotate 42 degrees around its axis. The main advantage of rotating locking mechanism of the barrel - reducing the risk of contamination of the mechanism and wear of parts. During the work on the gun, the Steyr M1912 barrel locking system was so modernized that Slovak engineers got their own patent.

The design of the shock-trigger mechanism (USM) of the Grand Power K100 gun was partly borrowed from other manufacturers. The trigger type is implemented as a single unit, which greatly facilitates the maintenance of weapons and reduces the risk of loss of small elements during cleaning and disassembly. Interesting is the fact that the design of the USM makes it possible to pull the trigger with the help of the trigger, without first sending the cartridge into the chamber. The drummer is not at risk.

Safety in the operation of the Grand Power K100 is provided by a non-automatic fuse blocking the drummer. In early versions, the fuse flag was on the left side. However, after a while, the same flag was also installed on the right. Thus, using a pistol with comfort can be both right-handed and left-handed. It was with a double flag that the pistol began to be produced serially.

The latch lever has undergone the same changes. At first it was one-sided, and then it became two-sided. There are levers over the trigger guard. On both sides there are also store fixing buttons.

The Grand Power K100 pistol, the photo of which is presented in the article, is supplied with a magazine for 15 cartridges of 9 caliber to 19. The store has a standard design and does not differ from competitors in anything special. A frame with a casing is also standard. In accordance with the trends of recent years, the frame has a steel frame and plastic coating. In places where special strength is required, of course, there are metal inserts. The shutter casing is made of steel with additives of chromium, nickel and molybdenum.

The outer metal parts are covered with a special compound, similar to the one used in the Glock pistols. Sights are traditionally represented by a fly and entirely. On the back faces of these parts there are white marks for a more comfortable aiming. Based on the Grand Power K100 pistol, the characteristics of which we reviewed above, have created several modifications. Let's talk about each of them.

Model K100QA

The QA index is an abbreviation for Quick Action, which means "fast action". This model has a special shock-trigger mechanism. The trigger in it constantly stands in a semi-mounted position. As a consequence, the trigger's trigger has significantly decreased and its resistance has decreased. Modification K100QA was created specifically for the shooter to be able to safely carry a pistol with a cartridge in the chamber and do not waste valuable time on bringing the weapon into combat condition.

Grand Power K100 Whisper

The word whisper is translated from English as a "whisperer". This is the same K100, only with an elongated barrel. A part of the barrel protruding beyond the casing has a thread intended for securing the muffler. Complete with this modification of the pistol comes a silencer, the body of which is made of duralumin-aluminum alloy, as well as a removable front sight and a rear sight with inserts that glow in the dark. It is interesting to note that to obtain this model you need to get a special permit from the Slovak Ministry of Internal Affairs.

K100 Mk6

This version of the pistol was created for special purpose units. It differs mainly in high ergonomics. To hold a gun is much more convenient than its prototype, thanks to an updated handle. Increased trigger clip allows you to use the weapon even with gloves.

K100 Mk7

The Grand Power K100 Mk7 is nothing more than a modified Mk6. The model is equipped with replaceable hinges of the handle, which makes it possible for the user to make the handle of his model as comfortable as possible. If desired, you can order a pistol with a barrel like a Whisper model and a silencer.

K100 GPC9

This is a simplified pistol modification, oriented to export. It has a number of technological differences and is equipped with one-way flags of the fuse and gate delay.

GP T10

This is a traumatic version of the Grand Power K100. Traumatic pistol, in contrast to the fire analogue, is built on the return of the free shutter. The main units and units are made of high-strength steel, used in combat weapons. Plastic sheath makes it possible to reduce weight and improve ergonomic properties. Two pins, installed in the trunk just behind the chamber, prevent the shooting of solid objects. USM double-action with a trigger open design allows you to shoot both with a preliminary platoon kurka, and self-cocking.

The caliber of the pistol is 10 by 22. The dimensions of the model are as follows: height - 140 mm, thickness - 40 mm, total length - 190 mm. In connection with such very serious dimensions, the model is not very suitable for concealed wearing.

GP T12

In 2010, the T10 model received several improvements. The updated pistol was called T12. The main difference between the models is the caliber of the ammunition. Specially for this model, the company "AKBS" created a cartridge with a caliber of 10 to 28. The second significant difference is the simplified design of the trunk. There is no muzzle in the gun. And one of the "teeth" that prevented a shot with a solid object, was removed. Well, the third difference is an updated frame made of more durable material.

Family P1

Of course, not only conventional pistols have commercial potential, but also their more compact versions. And in the case of the model K100, which is distinguished by its impressive dimensions, this is especially important. Therefore, Grand Power made a smaller version of the pistol. The reduction in length required such major changes that Kuratsina and colleagues decided to create a separate series for the shortened pistols, which received the P1 index.

The main difference between the model P1 and K100 is the reduced length of the barrel and the casing of the shutter. From 108 mm the barrel was reduced to 93 mm. Thus, the total length of the model was 188 mm instead of 203. USM and shutter lock remained the same, except for some overall parameters. The shape of the whole was slightly modified, and the fly received a luminescent rod.

In addition to the original model P1, two versions of it are available, with some differences. The first one is P1 Ultra. In the trunk and casing of this weapon there are 14 holes. Reducing the length of the weapon caused a shift in the balance. Holes play the role of a compensator, dropping the powder gases. As a result, the balance is close to the K100 version. Well, the third model of the line of shortened pistols is called P1 Mk7. The only difference is that it is made on the basis of the modification K100 Mk7 and has a set of replaceable rear handle pads.

Positions in the market

The main quantity of products of the Grand Power company was adopted by the Slovak power structures. Basically, these are different combat versions of the K100 model. Curacine pistols are also successfully exported. Models K100 and P1 are actively supplied to the Czech Republic, America, Canada, Australia, Venezuela and other countries.

The main trump card of Slovak pistols is a good balance of quality and value. The guaranteed number of shots is about 30 thousand. A number of South American and European countries are even considering the centralized purchase of Grand Power products and their acceptance into service.

Reviews

It's time to find out what experts think about the Grand Power K100 pistols. The reviews show that the pistol sits well in the hand and has a soft recoil pointing directly to the center of the palm. Often gunsmiths complain of the occurrence of delays in this model. However, with proper care (regular cleaning and thorough lubrication), you can reduce the number of delays to a minimum. Russian patrons Grand Power K100 does not like, so it is desirable to use imported. It is noteworthy that the creator of the gun actively goes to contact with users and always tries to fix the flaws. In general, the pistol deserves positive feedback. And its main zest (turn of the trunk) is a promising direction for the development of pistol construction.
