Pear Ussuriyskaya. Care and Growth

Pear is one of the most popular garden trees. Gardeners love this plant for its unpretentiousness, tasty and healthy fruits. Among many varieties, the Ussuri pear is also very popular, which is valued not only for its nutritional properties, but also for its appearance. It is a real decoration of the garden and the city park.

Description of the Ussuri pear

This deciduous tree, whose height can be up to 10 meters under favorable conditions. Its crown is wide, dense, with glossy leathery oval leaves. The trees have a fairly powerful root system. The flowering period begins even before the leaves blossom, and lasts about a week. Large white flowers, located on long pedicels, are very resistant to frost, unlike many other cultivars of pears. This plant is very good winter, withstanding even very strong Siberian frosts.

The Ussuri pear is a tree that is distributed mainly in the territory of Siberia and the Far East, where climatic conditions are most suitable for this species. It is appreciated not only for useful and tasty fruits, but also for the appearance. In cities, the pear is planted as an ornamental plant, which in spring decorates the city landscape with its flowering, and in autumn - with beautiful crimson leaves. This tree is a long-liver. Under good conditions, it can live up to 300 years.

Features of fruits

Fruit-bearing pear Ussuri begins in September. The tree is covered with small yellow fruits, some of them are covered with red blush. Their pulp, rich in organic acids, pectin substances and vitamins, also has quite good taste qualities. The size of the fruit varies depending on the soil, conditions of pear growth, but rarely grow more than 5 cm. Their shape can be both globular and oblong. Immediately after collection, the fruits are very tart, so they are rarely used in fresh form. After a short period of storage, they acquire a more pleasant taste with a slight sourness. Then pears are prepared from pears, compotes, jam, etc.

Landing rules

A pear is a tree, which is best planted in the spring. The seedlings must be examined beforehand for damaged roots, which must be removed. Then, each seedling should be dipped into the solution, so that the plant is better suited (one bucket of humus and the top soil is mixed with 300 g superphosphate). In the pit prepared in advance, sprinkle a little soil to make a small slide, then put a seedling on it and carefully plant the roots with earth. In the process of backfilling, the plant is shaken slightly to ensure that there is no free space between the roots. After planting, you need to make a small hole around the tree, drench it abundantly and cover it with humus.

Care of the pear

You need to look after this tree in much the same way as for an apple tree. Trimming a pear is even easier. To make it grow over lateral semi-skeletal branches, on which fruit twigs are formed, long skeletal branches are removed, leaving no more than a dozen. At tall trees they are shortened more strongly and periodically rejuvenate fruit branches.

Pear cultivation is carried out on soil rich in nutrients. Nevertheless, it requires a large number of potassium fertilizers. Before the flowering of the plant and after the ovaries have already fallen off, fertilize with nitrogen. Once in 5 years, a mixture of fertilizers is introduced. On the periphery of the tree trunk, a groove is torn out and the composition is made from humus, peat bogs, where superphosphate and potassium chloride are added at 500 and 800 g respectively, as well as 1 kg of lime. Then the groove is buried.

A pear is considered a very hygrophilous plant . Care and cultivation of this crop requires mandatory watering of the tree, especially in the dry period. It is best to do this with a nebulizer. You can also dig a groove around the trunk and fill it gradually with water. For a single tree, you need up to twenty buckets of water in a dry period. Especially during the pouring of fruits requires a heavy watering pear. Summer heat also requires spraying the plant with water. You need to do this in the evening, when the heat decreases.

Growth conditions

The Ussuri pear grows well on chernozem, gray forest and loamy soils. From the fertility of the soil and the amount of heat, the quality of the fruit largely depends. They ripen sour and harsh, if the pear grows on poor in composition soils or is given a cold summer.

Plant these plants best in well-lit areas. If a young tree grows well in shaded areas, then an adult needs much more light. Only in extreme heat, with drying and blackening of young leaves, the tree needs to be shaded.

It is recommended to plant the pear on small elevations and slopes. The roots of the tree penetrate very deeply into the earth, and the crown can acquire considerable dimensions.

In general, a rather unpretentious plant is the Ussuri pear. Care and growing are often not much different from those for other garden crops.

Benefits of pears for health

Many gardeners are happy to grow pears. The fruits of this plant are highly valued for their qualities. They are not only very tasty, but also extremely useful. In their composition they have a special substance - arbutin. This is a biological compound that can prevent diseases of the bladder and liver. Another important component in the pear fruit is folic acid. It is effective for anemia, viral hepatitis, promotes liquefaction and excretion of mucus from the lungs. Pear Ussuriyskaya, like all other varieties, contains iodine.

With catarrhal diseases, use pear juice and a decoction to lower the temperature. In the composition of many diets, recommended for obesity and diabetes, there are fruits of the pear. They improve the metabolism, remove excess water and salts from the body, accelerate the healing of tissues with various wounds and bleeding, providing an anti-inflammatory and strengthening effect.
