Opera singer Alexander Vedernikov is an outstanding performer of arias (bass), a teacher and an active member of the Academy of Folk Music.

Childhood and youth

Alexander was born in December 1927 in the village of Mokino (Kirov region). His parents were Philip Sergeevich and Anna Dmitrievna, who, besides him, had four more sons.

A large family of Vedernikovs lived a kind of clan on the bank of the Vyatka River. All the men of the family were engaged in making carriages. Working tirelessly, they carried out orders for many customers and produced carriages of very different purposes: from the workers to the ceremonial. All duties of blacksmiths, carpenters, carpenters and saddlers were performed by five brothers and their father Philip. An integral part of the working process became singing, attracting fellow villagers from all over the district.

Soon Vedernikov had to move to the city of Kopeisk, where his father became carpentry. Then he enrolled in rabfak, graduated from it and mastered the profession of a builder. He was attracted to erecting houses and mine structures. Alexander's mother went to nurses' courses, after which she worked for a long time in this specialty.

The desire for beauty was manifested in Alexander from an early age. He liked painting and singing. The hottest childish desire was to receive a gift in the form of a violin, but his father presented him with a balalaika, as well as a set for drawing. In 1943, Alexander began to study at the Korkino Mining College. At this educational institution there was a club that united the talented young people of the city. Of all circles of independent activity, Vedernikov Alexander Filippovich chose the Fine Arts, intending to become a member of the choral collective. However, this dream was not destined to come true: during auditions the young man was prevented by his breaking voice.

At the end of the school Vedernikov Alexander Filippovich became a qualified mining master. Luck smiled at the moment when he came to enter the art school. Aspiring to engage in art, and not work in the specialty, he planned to become an artist. The young man's plans changed a little when he learned that the documents were being accepted. Without hesitation, Vedernikov Alexander Filippovich ventured and tried to enter the music school, which is literally opposite.

Perfectly having coped with the singing exam, he began to study here. Then Alexander was a student at the Moscow Conservatory, and even later - an employee of a famous theater. Becoming a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater in 1958, the singer stayed with them until 1990.
