Oktyabryatsky badge: the history of the "star"

Soviet citizens knew perfectly well what the Oktyabr badge was. But for modern youth this concept is often unfamiliar. In the article we will describe in detail about this symbol.

What is the Octobrist badge. Its appearance

In the Soviet Union, children 7-10 years old were received in October. This was the name of the members of the children's organization, whose task was to enthrall the children with interesting activities and social life. Each member of this organization wore a special Oktyabr badge. He was pinned to the left on his chest (by the heart) on his jacket, shirt, sweater, dress, school apron, jacket. Often, October wore badges not only in school, but at home.

The grown-up guys from October were taken to the pioneers, and then to the Komsomol members. This way - the Octobranch - the pioneer - the Komsomol member - all the schoolchildren tried to pass, it was very honorable.

History of the famous star

The first detachments from junior schoolchildren appeared in 1923. At the same time, the Soviet artist Parkhomenko created a sketch for the Oktyabr icon. He looked like a five-pointed star of ruby color, inside on a white background - an image of a small curly Volodya (Lenin). The sketch was so successful that the evolution of the Oktyabr badge did not take place: in 25, and 35, and 55 years later, it looked the same.

The only change was made by Lithuanian artists: they added asterisks between the stars and an inscription around the photo in Lithuanian - Oktyabryata - Lenin's grandsons.

In total, two types of badges were produced: metal (by stamping, were launched into mass production) and plastic (exclusive badges, were rare even in the USSR).

"Vnuchata Ilyich", or Who had the right to carry this badge

Now many people argue about the expediency of this organization, criticize its ideological overtones, they say that the children have been forced upon the communist-Bolshevik philosophy of life. But one can not dispute the fact that children were taught to be honest, courageous, responsible, hardworking, to love their Motherland. This is evidenced by the slogans. Only the guys are "truthful and brave, clever, skillful," those who "play together and sing, live happily" had the right to wear the Oktyabr badge.

"Vnuchata Ilyich" learned by heart the rules of October, which consisted of several quatrains. Each began with these words:

  • " We are active guys ...";
  • " We are brave guys ...";
  • "We are diligent guys ...";
  • " We are true guys ...";
  • " We are funny guys ..."

Today they would say that October was a certain state brand, in the development of which the Soviets invested huge sums to raise a worthy young generation.

Where can I buy the October badge now?

Oktyabryatsky badge, photo of which is in the article, is a desired artifact for many Falerists (those who collect badges, orders, medals, other badges). The price of the badge depends on the date of manufacture. New, which stamp modern plants, are cheap - from 100 rubles. But the real Soviet icons are much more expensive - up to 1000 rubles and more. The approximate price of a plastic Octavian badge of the pre-war period is 4.5-5.0 thousand US dollars. The main thing is to make sure of the authenticity of this breastplate.
