They are a float that moves along a special guide tube. Inside the float is a magnet. The tube contains a reed switch (magnetically controlled contact). The latter works when a magnet approaches it. At this time, a red light on the instrument panel lights up, indicating an insufficient level of oil in the engine lubrication system.

What should I do if the indicator lights up

Some motorists panic when such an indicator is detected, others ignore this signal and continue to move. But how do you really need to behave if the system has a low level of fluid content?

If the oil pressure is on the instrument panel, the VAZ 2110 must be stopped and muffled by its motor, since the engine can indeed operate "on dry" when a red indicator appears.

What is most interesting, in cars of domestic production the sensor has the property of "lying", that is, it lights up if there are no objective reasons for it. In this case, it needs to be diagnosed. How to verify the performance of a part such as a pressure sensor? VAZ 2110 and its subsequent models are diagnosed as follows.

First of all, check the circuit from the sensor to the pressure indicator lamp. How it's done? To do this, it is sufficient to lean the wire from the sensor to the "mass". If the pressure lamp goes out, then the circuit is in good condition.

Sometimes it happens that the sensor itself is enveloped in an oily liquid. In this case, it must be replaced. If the lamp continues to burn, most likely, the oil pump or filter has stopped working in the system.

Depending on the results obtained, it is necessary to replace the filter with the filter or simply add the lubricating fluid to the required level. And remember - if there is no oil pressure on the VAZ 2110, this negatively affects the operation of the cylinder-piston group, as a result of which the jamming of the parts of the KSM and the overhaul are inevitable.

About repair

If you think that this device can be repaired and reinstalled, you are deeply mistaken. Even with a large experience of servicing cars, it is impossible to restore the oil pressure sensor qualitatively. VAZ 2110 is no exception. First, it can take a lot of time and effort to repair it. Secondly, even after this, the part will not function properly. The only way out is to acquire a new oil pressure sensor. VAZ 2110 - the car is very cheap in service, so the cost for such a spare part is small - only 60-100 rubles. Well, the replacement of this device will not take you five minutes.

Where is the oil pressure sensor in the "tens"

Depending on which engine was installed on the "Lada", the sensor can be located in two places. On eight-valve "tens" DDM is on the right side of the engine. On the sixteen-valve, it is located on the upper left side of the camshaft bearing housing.

Replacement of the sensor by one's own hands

As we said earlier, installing a new part will not take you long. The procedure of replacement itself is performed in only 3 stages:

  1. First you need to disconnect the wire from the sensor.
  2. Using a key for 21 millimeters to release it from the fasteners.
  3. Pull out the device together with the O-ring.

Install the parts in the reverse order. Motorists recommend mounting the sensor together with a new O-ring. A superfluous action is the cleaning of the contacts when the electrical connector is attached. If a dust seal is damaged on the device, it is recommended to replace it.
