Nightingale - a bird singing ... Or not?

Among all feathered singers there is one most vociferous. His trills are sonorous from all the others. Guess who we're talking about? That's right, about the nightingale. In most people, these birds are associated with the best of the best, with skilled feathered singers. And partly they are right. Indeed, the nightingale is a bird relatively songwriter. Why relatively? Let's find out!

How can I find out?

All of its feathers are colored with a monotonous brown color, which brightens on the abdomen, turning into pure white. The huge black eyes give it a special charm. Nightingale - a bird predatory and migratory: it feeds exclusively on insects, and for winter leaves its native expanses, flying to warm countries.

When they arrive to us?

In the spring they return. This happens when all the bushes and trees start to turn green. It happens this way. To the places of his nest, the nightingale flies only at night, while first flying males, and after them - females. Birds look for their former dwellings and settle in them anew. If you can not find the nest, the nightingale parents begin to twist it in a new way. Suitable places - on the ground among thick bushes. Building materials are grass, dry leaves, animal hair and vegetable fibers. When the "house" is built, the females start hatching eggs, and the males do their favorite thing - they sing.

Lovely singing

The bird of the nightingale (photo # 2) is so vociferous that it executes its trills all day and night, without ceasing! His nightly "concerts" are worthy of special praise. Sometimes people specially arrange evening walks through squares, parks and even through the forest to enjoy the singing of this beautiful bird. And the photo of the nightingale, issuing its trills, is another proof of this. Without a doubt, singing these birds is just fine, but there are some exceptions.

And is he a singer?

Not all males are such fine singers as they seem. Without exaggeration, among them there are true masters of vocal activity, but there are such nuggets, unfortunately, rarely. Basically, these are rather weak performers. The thing is that a nightingale is a bird that is not quite singing, i.e. Is not musical, as they say, from God. In other words, vocal skill is not an inborn property of males. Young nightingales acquire it only in the event that their fathers or other relatives can teach them this case. Nightingale offspring

Nightingale is a family bird. The male is sometimes distracted from his concerts and helps the "bride" to incubate the eggs. Usually, four to six chicks appear in the same nest. They come out naked and blind. The father helps the mother to feed the children, managing to sing their wonderful trills! At the end of June, young chicks leave the "parental home", and adult males stop giving their "concerts". Parents continue to take care of their descendants until they learn to fly perfectly. All the rest of the summer nightingales are secretive and quiet birds, no singing can be no more. Leave us these birds in August or September, flying to winter in tropical Africa.
