History

The Musical Theater (Omsk) was opened in 1946. The decision on its organization was adopted by the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR. He was opened on the basis of the Stalingrad musical comedy, which was evacuated to Omsk during the war. The opening of the theater took place in 1947. The first performance was the operetta "Apple of Love", written by the Soviet composer R. Kheif. She also determined the future fate of the theater. Other operettas of Soviet composers followed, which formed the basis of the repertoire.

The musical theater (Omsk) for the first 35 years of its existence had the status of musical comedy. On his stage were both popular and little-known operettas of Soviet composers. Repeatedly the troupe became the winner and the winner of various festivals, receiving prestigious awards for their productions.

The musical theater (Omsk) in 1981 was reorganized. He received a new building, designed by the architects NN Struzhin, DE Lurie and NN Belousova. His status has also changed. From now on it became known as a musical theater. His first performance in the new status was Tikhon Khrennikov's opera The Storm. The opening of the renovated theater took place in January 1982. The following years became the period of the formation of a new repertoire, in which ballets and operas were now included.

In the 90s the troupe began to actively tour abroad. To date, the Omsk theater is one of the largest in Siberia. In his repertoire - 60 productions of various genres, including for children. The theater not only participates in festivals, but also organizes several of them: "Victory Roads", "Stars of the World Ballet", "Panorama of Musical Theaters of Russia".

The troupe today goes on tour to Germany, Kazakhstan, the USA, China, Israel, Switzerland, Japan and so on. And also in remote settlements and villages of the Omsk region. The troupe takes part in the "Theater - Selu" program. In addition, artists often perform in military units and educational institutions of the Omsk garrison, as well as for servicemen of the Trans-Baikal and West-Siberian military districts.

Today the troupe serves more than 500 people. Many artists have been working in the musical theater for 30 years and even 40 years. Quite a lot of young staff.
