Museum of Hygiene. Bad habits - "no"!

The Natural Science Museum of Hygiene, established in 1919 in St. Petersburg, was founded with the goal of medical education of the population. At that time, ordinary people in Russia, not related to medicine, were not fully aware of the necessary measures of human hygiene, non-observance of which can lead to various diseases. Today, its exhibits also serve the noble goal of promoting healthy lifestyles. After all, can it be easier to explain to a person the harmful influence of bad habits on the body than on an illustrative example?

These illustrative examples in the form of exhibits of various images and variations and collected under its roof the Museum of Hygiene. St. Petersburg has always been famous for its progressiveness, ahead of time. This museum is another proof of this. After all, his exhibits a hundred years ago, which belonged to well-known medical scientists and doctors of that time or developed by them, so astonishing the modern man that many of them refuse any bad habits after visiting this institution.

Most of the exhibits, which offers the attention of visitors to the Hygiene Museum, are devoted to the prevention of various diseases and personal hygiene rights. It is especially important to deliver such information to the younger generation, so the museum has been a mandatory place for schoolchildren and students for many years. School excursions are held almost daily, but adults who want to visit this place also have plenty.

Many exhibits can scare not only children, but also women and men. For example, the dental chair and the "forgotten" instruments that are 100 years old look so frightening that they automatically instill a good habit of brushing your teeth twice a day.

But among the exhibits, which, as a rule, cause not very pleasant associations, there are also those that make you smile. For example, plasticine worms on tooth models or human teeth with built-in sad eyes.

It is much more interesting not only to visit the Hygiene Museum, but also to listen to an experienced visiting doctor who knows everything not only about the exhibits, but also the majority of diseases that depict them. You can book a tour by phone. For groups of up to five people, it will cost only 400 rubles. Its duration is exactly one hour. But if you want to familiarize yourself with the exhibits of the museum, you can visit it on any weekday from 10.00 to 18.00. On Saturday, the Hygiene Museum opens an hour later, and on Sunday closed on the day off. The cost of tickets for adults (without a guide) is 80 rubles, a child ticket is 50 rubles.

It should be noted that the Hygiene Museum (St. Petersburg) is not the only one of its kind. A similar museum was created in 1927-1930. In Dresden (Germany). It also exists until now and offers its visitors a permanent thematic exhibition "Man - Body - Health". There also from time to time there are other specialized exhibitions on relevant topics from the field of human science.
