Mount Deadmen: The Secret of the Pass of Dyatlov

Secrets of the past can not be forgotten. People remember them for centuries. Many are supplemented by new facts and become even more creepy and mysterious, but still inviting. To one of these stories is the mystery of the Mountain of the Dead. Pass Diatlova became widely known in 1959, when there, under mysterious circumstances, the skiers of the Djatlov group were killed.

About the death of nine people wrote a lot. Books and a film were published. In the latter, a version was put forward, according to which people perished in the course of research by Soviet military and scientists who experimented with human teleportation. The Mountain of the Dead has given rise to hundreds of disputes. Developed and discussed the most insane versions of what happened. Some argued that the blame for all UFOs. Others attributed everything to a snow man or ghosts from the past. One thing was known for certain - a man has nothing to do with it. As it turned out later, the Dead Man's Mountain got its name for a very long time and it was not by accident. What moved people who decided to climb the mountain? Probably, the students of the Djatlov group initially had to choose a different route.

Mount Holatchahl and the peak of Otorten are located on the ridge of the Belt Stone. They have long been known to the people of Mansi as a place that everyone should always avoid. Oorten in the translation into Russian sounds like "do not go there", and Holatchahl - "The Mountain of the Dead". It was at the pass between them that a group of young people, consisting of nine people, perished in 1959.

The mystery of the Mountain of the Dead was known to the people of Mansi from the very beginning of their existence. This people has a legend that is transmitted through generations. It tells that 13 thousand years ago there was a worldwide flood. As a result, all the people on the planet died, except 11 representatives of this people. They climbed to the very top of Holatchahl in the hope of escape. But merciless waves carried people away one after another. In the end there were only two - a woman and a man. Only after this wave subsided, and the water began to recede. After some time, the survivors descended into the valley. So the people of Mansi were reborn. Since then, this place has been called the "Mountain of the Dead" in memory of people who gave their lives to the angry gods.

The researchers are particularly concerned with the fact that even then, in 1959, nine people died. The Mansi people consider this number to be symbolic. For them, it means the end of the old life and the onset of a new one. According to the legends, after the flood the shamans were brought to the mountain by the victims - these were 9 animals. However, apparently, this did not help.

Tourists group Dyatlova - not the only victims of this ill-fated pass. In total, this place claimed 27 lives. In 1960-1961, 9 geologists died in air crashes. In 1961, 9 corpses of tourists from Leningrad were also found there. Most recently, in 2003, a helicopter with 9 passengers crashed over the mountain. People miraculously survived. Why does this place attract death to itself? What is its mystery, and what secrets does the mountain pass hold? Will there ever be an exact answer to these questions, it is not known.
