The Bolshoi Theater: History

Famous in the history of the fires of 1805 and 1853 completely changed the appearance of the building. Before them it was a brick three-story structure with decorative white inserts. The kind to which we are so used, the building acquired only during the reign of Alexander II.

In Soviet times, they argued a lot about the future fate of the Bolshoi Theater. There was even an offer to close it. But the government nevertheless decided to reconstruct the theater in 1922.

The current state of the Bolshoi Theater

The Sovremennik Theater

"Contemporary" founded in 1956, young actors who studied at the Moscow Art Theater.
