Modern rules of hockey with a ball

Today one of the fastest growing sports is hockey with a ball (bendi). The rules of the game are little different from traditional hockey, but there are a number of fundamental differences.

General concepts

Hockey with the ball is called the winter team sport. Matches are held on the ice ground. Players must move around the ice rink on skates. Manipulation of the ball is made only with clubs. This applies to standard beats, and goals, and passes. Goalkeepers do not have clubs, but in their arsenal there are special gloves.

The goal of the game is to defeat the opponent's goal. The team that scored more goals in the allotted time of the match wins. In international practice, the game is called "bandy". In Russia, it was called "hockey with the ball." The rules of the competition depend on the association, under the aegis of which the tournament is held. Regulations largely coincide, but at the Olympic Games they are slightly modified.

Heads Bandi International Federation of FIB. The organization of major competitions often involves the Olympic Committee.

History of creation

An analogue of hockey with a ball is known since ancient times. Then antique people used blunt sticks instead of clubs. The first mention of the game dates back to the 20th century BC. E. The figures found during the excavation of one of the Egyptian villages, depicts people who crossed over the ball kind of putter. Something similar was found on the territory of the former Aztec tribe of the Cheka. It is also known that in a similar way the ball was chased in ancient Japan, Greece and Rome.

On frozen reservoirs for the first time began to play in the Middle Ages. In the ancient Russian chronicles of the 10th century one can find repeated references to such a game as ball hockey, though at that time it was called in different ways: sticking, pen, pot, yule, chase. It is known that one of the main fans of the game in Russia was Peter I. It was he who brought iron skates from Holland. In the 9th century, Iceland thrived on a game called "Knuttlayker." Earlier in the UK, whole bendy competitions were held. The modern rules of the game of hockey with the ball were agreed and formed only in the early 19th century. The regulations were brought together by British enthusiasts. It was in England that the first semiprofessional clubs appeared, which were "Nottingham Forest" and "Sheffield United". In 1891, the NAB association was created in Britain, which assumed the responsibility of organizing official competitions. It was the English that ultimately contributed to the development of bendi in countries such as Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and others.

In Russia, a long time hockey with the ball remained at the amateur level. And only in 1998 in Leningrad on one of the central ice rinks took place the first match on the approved international rules. Since that moment in Russia, this sports discipline has been rapidly gaining momentum.

Rules of the game: teams

In the application for a match on each side should be no more than 17 people. At the start of the match, only 6 players can be on the field, including the goalkeeper. The number of substitutions in official tournaments is not limited. During the stoppage of a match, teams are not allowed to change. The rules of hockey with a ball for such a violation of the rules provide for removal for 3 minutes. It is worth noting that a replacement player is required to leave the field before the substitute comes into his place. Any manipulation of the composition takes place without the participation of a judge. An exception is the replacement of the goalkeeper. This procedure is possible only with the permission of the arbitrator during the stoppage of the meeting. It is noteworthy that without a goalkeeper, a technical defeat is credited to the team.

Field standards

The ice hockey rink is no different from the ice rink of traditional discipline. The length of the field can vary from 45 to 61 m, and the width - from 26 to 30 m. In official competitions the standard is an ice rink with a size of 58 by 29 m.

The rules of hockey with the ball also provide for the marking of the field. It is identical to the classical form, but there is one additional nuance. The penalty zone is limited to the goal line and the dotted line passing through the face-off circles. The points of contact are places for free strikes.

The gate should be 1.22 m high and 1.83 m wide.

Duration of the match

In professional men's categories the meeting lasts 90 minutes. The same time for the match and for boys under 21 years. Children's classes provide for reducing the playing time to 60 minutes. In women, each of the two halves lasts for 35 minutes. The duration of the break between the periods depends on the rules of the competition. It can last from 5 to 10 minutes. Similarly, the time of removal from the field is calculated. Depending on the rules of the tournament, it can be from 2 to 10 minutes.

It is noteworthy that the rules of the game of hockey with the ball do not provide for additional time. This applies to both male and female categories.

Rules of the game: standards

In the case of a free kick, all competitors must be 5 meters from the projectile. The standard is drawn from the place where the violation was recorded. The exception is free kicks, assigned in favor of the attacking team in the penalty area or behind the goal line.

Play for the front line is allowed only to competitors, but not to the defending side. A free kick in a bandy is called a bullet. This is an alternative to a football penalty. The rules of hockey say that a blow must be made only after the referee whistle. The starting point is the red line. Prior to the first touch, all players of the attacking team remain behind the blue zone. If the goal is not scored as a result of a shootout, then the match continues. It is forbidden to play a free-kick, which, by the way, is permitted in the game of field hockey.

Rules of the game: violations

Team members are not allowed to push or detain an opponent. It is forbidden to grab an opponent's stick, to cling it to one's own. The referee assigns a standard position for the delay of the ball with his hands. In bandy, you can only touch the projectile with a stick. The goalkeeper has the right to take the ball in his hands. Do not throw gloves or putters into an opponent.

Rules of hockey with a ball prohibit any manifestation of rudeness on the field. For a dangerous game or an attempt to hit an opponent, the judge appoints the appropriate punishment. It is forbidden to hit the ball when it is above the shoulder. Do not touch the projectile in a prone or kneeling position.

Violation is considered to be the carrying of the ball by the torso and the game with the feet. Goalkeepers must throw a shell in the field so that it touches the side.

Remove

In professional bendi the judge has the right to disqualify the offender for 3 and 5 minutes or until the end of the match. The severity of punishment depends on the foul. The rules of the game of hockey with a ball provide for a 3-minute removal for deliberate touching the projectile with your hand, a blow to the opponent's stick, improper substitution, etc. Also, to a small type of violation, the disputes are with the judge.

Disqualification for 5 minutes comes due to the running, pushing over the board, delaying the hand, hitting the opponent's stick, unsportsmanlike conduct.

For an intentionally rough and dangerous game, as well as for the third removal, the offender must leave the field limits until the end of the meeting.
