Minsk circus: history, artists, programs

The Belarusian State Circus has its history from the 19th century. Today, high-level professionals work here. The circus poster offers interesting programs.

The pre-war history of the circus

The first stationary circus in Minsk was opened in 1884. They were led by the brothers Nikitin. Its building was wooden and could accommodate 800 spectators. There were circus performances and performances. The building was located next to several temples. This caused great dissatisfaction on the part of the clergy. The governor of the city helped the circus to move to another place. Even more times the company had to change the place of residence.

In the arena of the Minsk circus, celebrities often performed: Durovs and Trutszi, Zaikin, Ivan Poddubny and others took.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the circus in Minsk became very popular. The program included performances of clowns with satirical monologues and dialogues. It was their numbers that most liked the public.

Also, the solders provided circus numbers of strong men and battles of the heroes. On the tour artists from different countries came to Minsk.

On the night of June 24, 1941, fascist aviation made a raid on the city. The bomb hit the building of the circus. A fire started. Not all animals could be saved. The surviving artists and animals were evacuated to Omsk.

The post-war period in the history of the circus

The Minsk Circus returned from the evacuation in 1946. A new wooden building for him was built on the site of the old one. It is the same as the previous one, it was designed for 1200 spectators. A new brick building for the circus was built in 1958. The capacity of its hall is 1668 seats.

The area of the room is 7600 square meters. The building is intended for displaying performances of all genres - from grandiose air numbers to water extravaganzaes.

The Minsk Circus was at that time the most beautiful and large in the Union. The first performance in the new building took place on February 11, 1959. This day is considered to be the official date of birth of the modern circus of the Republic of Belarus. The artistic director of the collective was E. Milayev , Honored Artist of the Republic.

Artists in the circus were selected carefully, selected the best from all over the USSR. The troupe worked with great success and toured the Union.

Circus today

Modern history began in 1997, when the Minsk Circus was renamed the Belarusian State.

Today BHC not only demonstrates its performances to the public and travels with them on tour, but also organizes concerts of the stars of the world arena in its arena. Thanks to this, residents and guests of the city have a unique opportunity to see the best programs with the participation of artists from Bulgaria, Latvia, Russia, Kenya, Ukraine, China, Poland, Hungary and other countries.

The Circus in Minsk is the only one in the territory of the former USSR, which continues to organize charity shows for the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, for the Chernobyl victims, cadets of the Suvorov School, conscript soldiers, servicemen in the armed forces and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and for internationalist soldiers.

In September 2008 the circus was closed for reconstruction. It lasted two years. First there was preparation. Then the main building was subjected to reconstruction. At the next stage a new building was built, which is designed to expand the possibilities of the circus. After the renovation the building changed beyond recognition. Now the circus consists not of one building, but of three. There was a new arena for rehearsals, which will allow preparing for performances to several artists simultaneously, a ballet hall, a dining room for employees, a sewing workshop with modern equipment.

The former bomb shelter (ground floor) was refurbished. Now there is a wardrobe and a toilet. The conditions in which animals were kept changed also. For them, new stalls, an elevator and even dressing rooms were built.

In 2013, VA Shaban took the post of director.

The Minsk Circus offers different views to its young and adult audiences. The cost of tickets varies from 30 to 620 thousand Belarusian rubles.

Circus decoration

The Minsk Circus considers the number of "Rose" as an ornament of its programs. Performed by his air gymnast Alyona Kulikova. Another of her performances is popular with the audience - "Lady Bird". The first artist performs in the ring, and the second - on the canvases. Gymnast, floating under the dome of the circus, gives viewers a sense of magic, fairy tales, and wins them with their beauty and grace.

Alena Kulikova with her number "Rose" won the second place at the International Festival "Circus Cuba".

With the number "Lady Bird", the artist won prizes in Riga, Kiev and Astana.
