Mine Zasyadko is one of the largest coal mining enterprises in Ukraine. It is located on the territory of the unrecognized People's Republic of China. A bit of history

Mine Zasyadko was commissioned in the late fifties of last century. Located in Donetsk, on the eponymous prospectus, named in honor of the famous statesman in Soviet times, a native of the city of Gorlovka. The design capacity of this mine in the first years of existence was a little more than a million coal per year. But later, the employees of the enterprise regularly exceeded their production targets, as a result of which they were awarded various awards, including state awards.

As already mentioned, the famous mine Zasyadko became due to its accident. Although in Soviet times the exact number of victims was not announced. Only information about accidents is known, which led to numerous victims. The largest Donetsk mine is considered the most dangerous, not only in the country, but also in the world. Catastrophe of 1999

As a result of this accident, about fifty miners were killed. May 24, 1999 - a tragic day in the history of Donetsk. The cause of the disaster is not established. According to one of the versions - this is self-ignition of coal. Several of the leaders of the Zasyadko mine lost their posts. No one was brought to criminal responsibility.

For the population of Donetsk, most of which at that time was involved in the coal mining industry, this event was the most terrible of those that occurred before the year 2000. But less than three years have passed since the next catastrophe occurred.

The 2002 accident

July 31 at a depth of more than a thousand meters there was an explosion of coal dust and methane. Rescuers recovered from the ruins of twenty bodies of miners. One more died in the hospital. What caused the explosion? In this accident, the miners who violated the safety rules were guilty.

On August 18, eighteen miners died. This time, the cable ignited. The number of victims could be more. After all, under the earth were at the time of the accident more than a thousand people. About forty were in the zone of increased danger. Fortunately, most of them managed to escape.

The accident on September 20, 2006

This catastrophe occurred as a result of methane emissions. Sixteen people were hospitalized. Thirteen perished from suffocation. According to an unofficial version, the originator of this accident was the production director. So, at least, claimed the miners, who witnessed the tragic event. But the opinion of miners in the press was very sparse. None of the leaders lost their office and, moreover, was not brought to criminal liability.

The worst accident

In 2007, over a hundred miners perished at the Zasyadko mine. This disaster has become the largest in the history of the enterprise. It occurred as a result of a methane-air mixture explosion. In extinguishing the fire, branches of the fire department of not only Donetsk, but also Lugansk were involved. Three days after the accident, miners were killed on the surface. The bodies of eleven miners have never been found.

The coal mine is an enterprise of increased danger. But the statistics of accidents are affected primarily by the human factor. The article lists the largest accidents.
