Metro Izmailovskaya. Coloring of the Moscow suburbs

If you suddenly have a desire to see the city familiar from childhood in a somewhat unusual foreshortening, then it is here, on the eastern outskirts of Moscow. The subway tunnel goes here to the surface, and now we are in Izmailovo - in one of the oldest historical districts of the capital. Metro Izmaylovskaya, we are here to go.

Izmailovo

The history of this village can be traced back to the sixteenth century, when it was the specific patrimony of the Romanov boyars. Gradually, it was integrated into large Moscow. From the beginning of the twentieth century it was a typical working suburb. An indelible imprint of this circumstance is visible to the unaided eye to this day. Izmailovo is Moscow. But Moscow is not so small. Not facade, not front and not glossy. This is clearly not the most prestigious district of the capital. But it would be unfair not to note that it is gradually changing for the better. New residential complexes are being built, historical and architectural monuments that have survived to this day are maintained in the proper form. The Cherkizovsky market, which existed for a long time, was liquidated for many years, and it severely criminalized the situation.

Moscow, metro Izmailovskaya

Not so many among the native Muscovites wanting to move to a permanent place of residence on this eastern outskirts. But few doubt that Izmaylovo has its own unique look. Already the metro station Izmaylovskaya itself is very textured and very characteristic for this region. It was put into operation in 1961. You have to imagine what it was in time. And this was the epoch of N.S. Khrushchev with excesses in the field of design and construction. Thus, he saved money, due to the information of the architecture to a minimum and to zero. Izmaylovskaya metro station was among the first objects affected by this reasonable (only at first glance) initiative. One can argue about whether there is an architecture in general here. The station is made though on an individual project, but it is assembled from standard reinforced concrete structures. Everything is reduced to the ultimate minimalism, there are even no walls. This allows you to admire the views of Izmailovsky Park in anticipation of the train. Even on the floor of the station, primitive asphalt was originally laid, which in subsequent years was replaced by a tile covering.

Izmaylovskaya metro station is located on the Arbat-Pokrovskaya line. And this only emphasizes her unpretentious appearance against the backdrop of the masterpieces located in the same direction, such as Revolution Square, Arbat, Smolensk or Kiev. Visual contrast is just striking, it seems that the metro train accidentally drove into some other, very poor and unhappy city. But Izmailov's residents have long been accustomed to such a look of their station. And many native Muscovites flare up bright nostalgic feelings in their souls at the sight of a short inscription in some municipal reference book "Izmaylovskaya metro station". And even such an open type of station has become familiar and has long entered the history of metro construction. This is a good example of how not to build and how not to save money.
